Dynamic Crosshair is a client-side dynamic crosshair mod for Minecraft Java that hides or changes the crosshair depending on context. Fabric builds run from 1.18 to 26.3, NeoForge from 1.20.2 to 1.21.11 and Forge from 1.18 to 1.21.10. It is needed on the client only, and servers are not supported.
What it changes
- Hides the crosshair when you are not looking at anything.
- Shows or hides it depending on what you are looking at.
- Shows or hides it depending on the item you hold.
- Switches the crosshair style for different situations. Facing a log with an axe, for example, gives a square tool crosshair with a dot for a breakable block and a rounded bracket for a use action.
- Exposes many settings for all of the above.
Loaders and dependencies
- Fabric: requires Fabric API. Mod Menu is optional.
- NeoForge and Forge: YetAnotherConfigLib is optional on recent builds. Forge builds for 1.18 to 1.19.4 require Cloth Config API. Newer build listings name Fabric API as required, so read the dependency list on the exact file you download.
- Older Fabric builds for 1.18 to 1.19.2 require Cloth Config API in place of YACL.
Compatibility and trade-offs
The mod is tightly coupled to vanilla Minecraft and hardcodes many interaction rules. On a modded world the context-dependent styles become unreliable, and items from content mods are forced to keep a crosshair when held in the main hand. Dynamic Crosshair Compat, a separate add-on, is recommended when you play with content mods. It is not compatible with Exordium unless you set that mod's enabledGui option to false, and it can have issues with ImmediatelyFast.
Questions about Dynamic Crosshair.
4 questions
Does Dynamic Crosshair work on multiplayer servers?
It is a client-side mod, so you install it only on your own game. Servers are not supported and do not need it. Playing on a non-vanilla world can make the context-dependent crosshair styles unreliable.
Which Minecraft versions does Dynamic Crosshair support?
Fabric builds cover 1.18 to 26.3, NeoForge builds cover 1.20.2 to 1.21.11, and Forge builds cover 1.18 to 1.21.10. Pick the file that matches both your loader and your exact game version, since each loader has its own range.
Does Dynamic Crosshair need Fabric API?
Yes on Fabric, where Fabric API is required. Mod Menu is optional. Older Fabric builds up to 5.5 require Cloth Config API. For Forge and NeoForge, check the dependency list on the file you download.
Why is my crosshair behaving oddly with other mods?
The mod hardcodes vanilla interaction rules, so content mods can make the context-dependent styles unreliable. Installing Dynamic Crosshair Compat helps. It also conflicts with Exordium unless that mod's enabledGui is off, and can have issues with ImmediatelyFast.
