YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) is a builder based configuration screen library, not a mod players install for its own gameplay change. It gives Fabric, NeoForge, and Forge mod developers a themed settings GUI, sliders, dropdowns, color pickers, and collapsible groups, without writing GUI code from scratch. Its build history covers Minecraft Java from 1.19 through the current 26.2 release, and a Fabric API install is required alongside it on Fabric.
How to install YACL
Most players never install YACL directly. It is a dependency another mod's Modrinth page lists, and the Modrinth App, a modpack launcher, or CurseForge's client resolves it automatically once you add a mod that needs it. A manual install looks like this:
- 1.Pick the loader that matches your other mods, Fabric or NeoForge for a currently updated build.
- 2.On Fabric, install Fabric API first. YACL's Fabric builds list it as a required dependency, and the game will not start without it.
- 3.Download the YACL jar that matches your exact Minecraft version and loader from its Modrinth versions page, then drop it in the .minecraft/mods folder (see the Minecraft mods folder guide if you are not sure where that is).
- 4.Launch the matching loader profile. YACL adds no menu of its own, its screens appear inside the mods that depend on it, often reached through Mod Menu.
Fabric, NeoForge, Forge, and Quilt support
YACL's four builds are not on equal footing. Fabric and NeoForge both received a 3.9.6 release on 19 July 2026, Fabric reaching Minecraft 26.1 and 26.2 and NeoForge reaching 26.2. Forge's most recent build is 3.6.6, published 23 March 2025 for Minecraft 1.20.1, a full release rather than a beta, and there has been no Forge build since. Quilt fell behind earlier still, its last tagged build is 3.2.2, published 12 February 2024 for 1.20 and 1.20.1.
Which mods pull in YACL
YACL is a dependency, not a destination, so its install base is whichever mods declare it required. Confirmed current dependents include Zoomify, Controlify, Cull Less Leaves, and Adaptive Tooltips, all from the same developer's catalogue as YACL itself. Plenty of other mods use YACL too, but this list only names ones whose own Modrinth version feed actually declares the dependency.
