End Remastered is a Java adventure mod that overhauls how you reach the End. You find 16 new eyes by exploring vanilla structures and fighting vanilla bosses. It runs on Fabric and NeoForge, with Forge builds stopped, and it must be installed on both sides in multiplayer.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric: Minecraft 1.17.1 to 26.1.2. The newest build requires Fabric API.
  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.1.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.16.3 to 1.20.4, builds stopped after August 2024. The newest build needs no dependencies.

How the portal changes

Once you hold at least 12 of the custom eyes, you can follow them to the Stronghold. The portal needs 12 custom eyes in its frames to open. If a vanilla Eye of Ender already sits in a frame, right click it with a custom eye to remove it.

Where the eyes come from

  • Structures: desert pyramids, jungle pyramids, igloos, Nether fortresses, mineshafts, pillager outposts and buried chests each hold one eye. Bastion treasure chests hold another.
  • Bosses and mobs: Evokers, the Wither and the Elder Guardian each give an eye.
  • Crafted: the Witch Eye uses a witch pupil, the Exotic Eye uses aquatic items, and the Undead Eye uses an Undead Soul, which a skeleton horse drops.
  • Trade and luck: a master cleric sells the Evil Eye, and the Cryptic Eye has a small chance to appear when enchanting.

Installing it

Pick the loader that matches your world, then follow the guide to install mods on Java. Put the mod file in your mods folder and start the matching loader profile. In multiplayer, the mod is required on both sides.

How many eyes do you need to open the End portal with End Remastered?

You need at least 12 of the 16 custom eyes to open the portal, and you can follow them to the Stronghold once you hold 12. Place the 12 custom eyes in the frames. A vanilla Eye of Ender already in a frame can be removed by right clicking it with a custom eye.

Does End Remastered work on multiplayer servers?

Yes, but it is required on both sides. The host and every player must have the mod installed. Current builds exist for Fabric and NeoForge, while Forge builds stopped after August 2024, so choose a loader that matches the world you plan to play.

Does End Remastered work on Forge?

Forge builds exist but have stopped. The last one dates from August 2024. Current builds are made for Fabric and NeoForge, so choose one of those loaders for newer worlds.

Where do you find the Black Eye and the Cursed Eye?

The Black Eye is found in buried chests. The Cursed Eye is found in bastion treasure chests. Both are among the structure-based eyes, so exploration is the way to collect them.
