Essential Mod for Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge
Essential ships separate builds for Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge rather than one universal jar, so the download you pick has to match both your loader and your Minecraft version. Release 1.4.1.1 went out across all three loaders on the same day, but they do not reach the same place. The Fabric builds carry through 1.21.11 and on into the 26.1 and 26.2 drops. The Forge and NeoForge builds stop at 1.21.8. Forge reaches furthest backwards, with builds for 1.8.9 and 1.12.2 that Fabric never had. Always check the loader and version tag on the file before installing.
License and the Cosmetics Store
Essential is closed source. Modrinth lists it under an All Rights Reserved license, unlike most Fabric and Forge mods that ship their code publicly. The world hosting, chat, skins, and screenshot tools are all free to use. Essential also runs an optional cosmetics store for extra outfits and effects on top of the free feature set, nothing in that store is required to use the mod.
