In-Game Account Switcher is a client-side mod for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. It changes which account you are logged in to without restarting Minecraft.

As an in-game account switcher it changes the logged-in account while the game keeps running, which saves the relaunch cycle for anyone who plays on more than one profile.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric: Minecraft 1.14.4 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API, optionally Mod Menu; some builds for 1.14.4 to 1.18.1 need no dependencies.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.7.10 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies; some builds for 1.12.2 require Fabric API.
  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • Quilt: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API, optionally Mod Menu; some builds for 1.18.2 to 1.21.4 require Quilted Fabric API (QFAPI) / Quilt Standard Libraries (QSL).

How to install it

  1. 1.Install the loader that matches your Minecraft release (Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt).
  2. 2.Download the file built for that loader and release from the Modrinth page.
  3. 3.Drop it into the mods folder, along with any dependency listed above, such as Fabric API.
  4. 4.Launch with the loader's profile and switch accounts from inside the game.

Limits worth knowing

The mod refuses to import or export accounts from a file, and it will not accept access tokens or cookies for Microsoft accounts. The creator calls that behaviour shady or prohibited by the Minecraft EULA. In Feather Client and Lunar Client the button may not appear and the account list may be empty. Both are closed-source, so compatibility cannot be added, and many of these clients have their own built-in account switcher, which the creator says to use instead.

The docs in the GitHub repository cover common errors, secure log sharing and what to do if someone else is using your account through the mod.

Questions about In-Game Account Switcher.

5 questions

Does In-Game Account Switcher work on multiplayer servers?

It is a client-side mod. You install it on your own machine, and the creator lists it as client required, server unsupported. Servers do not need it, so never place it in a server's mods folder.

Is the In-Game Account Switcher mod safe to use?

The code is open source under LGPL v3, so anyone can read it on GitHub. The docs include a page on stolen accounts and one on secure log sharing. As with any mod, download it only from Modrinth, CurseForge or GitHub.

Which loaders does In-Game Account Switcher support?

Builds exist for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and Quilt should work too. The newest Quilt file on Modrinth is the Fabric file. Each build needs the loader it was made for, installed for the same Minecraft release, so pick the file that matches both.

Can I import accounts or use access tokens with it?

No. The mod does not import or export accounts from a file, and it does not accept access tokens or cookies for Microsoft accounts. The creator treats that kind of behaviour as shady or prohibited by the Minecraft EULA, so it will not be added.

Why does the account button not show on Lunar or Feather?

Feather Client and Lunar Client are closed-source and break lots of things, so the button can be missing or the account list empty. Compatibility cannot be added to the mod. Many of these clients have their own built-in account switcher, and the creator says to use it instead.
