libIPN is a client-side library mod for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, and Quilt on Minecraft Java. It supplies the shared GUI and configuration framework behind Inventory Profiles Next, the inventory-sorting mod from the same author, and by itself it adds no menu or feature you would notice in-game. Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge builds reach 26.2, current as of August 2026; the Quilt build stops at 1.21.8.

What libIPN does

libIPN began as the GUI and config layer inside Inventory Profiles Next and was split into its own project so blackd, the author of both, could reuse the same menu code in future mods. The project's own listing describes it plainly as the GUI and config library used by Inventory Profiles Next, open for other developers to depend on even though it ships without documentation or usage examples.

Installing libIPN

  • Download the build for your loader, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt, from the Modrinth page linked below.
  • Match the Minecraft version and loader of the mod that requires it; a mismatched build fails to load.
  • Drop the jar into the mods folder next to Inventory Profiles Next or whichever mod lists libIPN as a dependency.
  • There is no in-game menu or config screen for libIPN itself.

Supported loaders and Minecraft versions

  • Fabric: current build reaches 26.2, version 6.8.3, published 2026-08-09.
  • Forge: current build reaches 26.2, version 6.8.3, published 2026-08-09.
  • NeoForge: current build reaches 26.2, version 6.8.3, published 2026-08-09.
  • Quilt: stops at 1.21.8, last published 2025-07-09, with no newer Quilt build since.

Licence and source

libIPN is released under AGPL-3.0-or-later, a strong copyleft licence confirmed against the LICENSE file in the project's repository. Development moved off the original GitHub repository, which has had no commits since June 2025, to a Codeberg repository under the Inventory-Profiles-Next-Mod organisation, where the most recent commits are dated August 2026 and line up with the current Modrinth release.

Questions about libIPN.

5 questions

What does libIPN do?

libIPN is a shared GUI and configuration library. It has no gameplay feature of its own; it exists so Inventory Profiles Next, and any future mod from the same author, can reuse the same menu and config code instead of duplicating it.

Do I need libIPN to run Inventory Profiles Next?

Yes. Inventory Profiles Next lists libIPN as a required dependency, and it will not load without a matching libIPN build installed for the same loader and Minecraft version.

Does libIPN work with Quilt?

Yes, but the Quilt build stops at Minecraft 1.21.8. Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge builds have continued past that point and currently reach 26.2.

Is libIPN safe to use?

libIPN is distributed through Modrinth under the AGPL-3.0-or-later licence, with a public repository and a single credited author, blackd. There is no independent security review, so judge it the way you would any open-source mod dependency.

Where can I download libIPN?

Modrinth hosts the project's own listing, with build downloads for every supported loader and Minecraft version.
