Macaw's Trapdoors is a decoration mod that fills the gaps in vanilla trapdoors. It adds one for every plank variation, plus original designs. It runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and it must be installed on both the player's side and the host's side. The appeal is building variety, not new mechanics.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API; some builds for 1.21.11 to 26.1.2 need no dependencies.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.4 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it adds
Every plank type gets its own trapdoor, which vanilla leaves incomplete. On top of that come new designs. The latest release added Ranch and Bamboo trapdoors, and the creator's page promises more.
Installation
Install the loader that matches the release you play first. Setup is covered in the guides for Fabric and for Forge and NeoForge.
- 1.Pick the file on Modrinth that matches your loader and your release.
- 2.Place it in the mods folder of your game directory, together with any dependency listed above for your loader.
- 3.Launch with the loader's profile.
- 4.For multiplayer, put the same mod file on the host as well.
Modpacks and the wider set
Modpack use is allowed with credit and a reference to the Modrinth page. Ideas go to the Macaw's Discord, and translations can be sent on GitHub or Discord.

Questions about Macaw's Trapdoors.
4 questions
Does Macaw's Trapdoors work in multiplayer?
Yes, but it must be installed on both sides. Each player and the host need the mod, built for the same loader and release. Pick the matching Fabric, Forge or NeoForge file on Modrinth, and place it in the mods folder of the game directory on each machine involved.
Can I use Macaw's Trapdoors in a modpack?
Yes. The creator allows modpack use as long as you credit the mod and reference its Modrinth page. The source code is also published under an MIT licence file in the GitHub repository.
Will Macaw's Trapdoors be backported to 1.15.2?
A 1.15.2 backport, or anything older, is very unlikely according to the creator. A last 1.12.2 release could happen at some point, but nothing is promised. Forge currently reaches back to 1.16.5.
Does Macaw's Trapdoors work on Bedrock?
No. It is a Java mod that loads through Fabric, Forge or NeoForge, and Bedrock cannot load those. Java players pick the file that matches their loader and release.
