Macaw's Windows is a decoration mod for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge that adds a large set of windows to Minecraft Java. It must be installed on both client and server, so multiplayer worlds need it on each side. Windows can be opened, closed or locked, which separates it from plain glass panes.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API; some builds for 1.21.11 need no dependencies.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.4 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it adds
- Windows that open, close or lock, including gothic windows
- Mosaic glass and mosaic glass panes
- One way glass
- Parapets and sills
- Shutters, blinds and curtains
- Arrow slits, plus more pieces listed on the Modrinth page
The set is built for interiors and facades alike. Curtains and blinds frame a room, while parapets and shutters finish the outside.
Installation
- 1.Install the loader you play on (Fabric, Forge or NeoForge) for the matching Minecraft release.
- 2.On Fabric, add Fabric API as well. Forge and NeoForge need no extra library.
- 3.Put the mod file in the mods folder, on the client and on the server.
- 4.Launch with the loader profile.

Questions about Macaw's Windows.
4 questions
Does Macaw's Windows work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, it is marked as required on both client and server, so install it on the server and on every client that joins. Pick the loader your server runs, which can be Fabric, Forge or NeoForge, and add Fabric API if you are on Fabric.
Do I need Fabric API for Macaw's Windows?
On Fabric, the newest release requires Fabric API, so install it next to the mod. The Forge and NeoForge releases need no other mods. Fabric API goes in the same mods folder as the Macaw's Windows file, and it has to be built for the same Minecraft release as the rest of your setup.
Can I use Macaw's Windows in a modpack?
Yes. The creator allows modpack use as long as you credit sketchmacaw and reference the Modrinth page. Translations can be sent through the creator's GitHub or Discord.
Will Macaw's Windows be backported to older Minecraft releases?
A backport to 1.15.2 or lower is very unlikely according to the creator. A last 1.12.2 release could happen at some point, but nothing is promised. Forge files start at 1.16.5.
