Music Notification is a music notification mod for Java that shows a toast with the track's name, author and album whenever music starts. It runs on Fabric and NeoForge and works on the player's side only. Multiplayer hosts do not support it, so you install it on your own setup.
Notification styles and settings
The popup is fully configurable. You pick one of three styles and decide how much detail it shows.
- Normal Toast style.
- Action Bar style.
- Compact style.
- A "Show album name" option that adds the album to the notification.
- Support for modded content, including the More Music Discs mod.
- A Jukebox Menu that plays any music anywhere at any time.
Custom tracks
To name your own music or rename existing tracks, add a file called `musics.json` to a custom resource pack under the namespace `musicnotification`. The JSON schema is documented in the DOCS.md file of the GitHub repository.
Installation and dependencies
Pick the release that matches your loader and Java release, then place the mod file and every required library in the mods folder. The newest Fabric release requires Cloth Config API and lists Mod Menu as optional. Some Fabric releases for 1.21 to 1.21.8 also require Fabric API. On NeoForge, the newest release requires the Modrinth project SQoni9E3, while older NeoForge releases asked for Cloth Config API instead.

How do I install Music Notification?
Install Fabric or NeoForge for your Java release, then place the Music Notification file in the mods folder together with its required library. On Fabric that is Cloth Config API for the newest release. Launch with the loader's profile.
Does Music Notification work on multiplayer servers?
No. The mod is built for the player's side only, and hosts are listed as unsupported. You install it on your own setup, and it shows toasts for the music that plays for you. A host does not need it and cannot run it.
