ReplayMod is a client-side mod for Minecraft Java Edition that records your gameplay to compact replay files and lets you revisit any session from a free camera. It runs on Fabric and Forge across versions from 1.8 through 1.21, and the average hour-long recording stays under 10 MB. Whether you want to capture a build timelapse, rewatch a boss fight, or produce a cinematic trailer, the built-in video creator handles everything without requiring external software.
How to Install ReplayMod
Download the jar matching your Minecraft version and loader from the Modrinth page. ReplayMod has no required dependencies on either Fabric or Forge.
- 1.Install Fabric Loader or Forge for your Minecraft version.
- 2.Download the ReplayMod jar for that same version from Modrinth.
- 3.Drop the jar into the .minecraft/mods folder.
- 4.Launch the game. A small recording indicator appears in the corner when the mod is active.
Recording and Replaying Sessions
Recording starts automatically when you join a world or server. When you disconnect, the session is saved to .minecraft/replay_recordings as a .mcpr file. Open the Replay Viewer from the main menu to load any saved session and rewatch it from a free-roaming spectator perspective with a full timeline scrubber.

Creating Cinematic Videos with Camera Paths
The Keyframe Timeline is where ReplayMod becomes a cinematography tool. Place position keyframes along the timeline to define a camera path and the mod smoothly interpolates between them during render. Both cubic (curved) and linear paths are supported. You can also add time keyframes to speed up or slow down specific segments independently of the camera movement.

When the path is ready, open the Render Settings screen to configure resolution, frame rate, and encoding. With FFmpeg installed, ReplayMod exports directly to a video file. Without it, individual frames are saved as PNGs for post-processing. Render presets include standard video, stereoscopic 3D, cubic 360, and equirectangular for VR content.

Questions about this entry.
How do I install ReplayMod on Fabric?
Install Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version, then download the matching ReplayMod jar from Modrinth. Place the jar in your .minecraft/mods folder and launch the game. ReplayMod has no required dependencies on Fabric.
Can I use ReplayMod on a multiplayer server?
Yes. ReplayMod is client-side only, so it records on any server you join without any server-side mod or plugin. This includes Realms and vanilla-only servers.
Does ReplayMod work with Sodium or Iris?
ReplayMod is compatible with both Sodium and Iris on Fabric. Sodium can improve replay playback performance, and Iris lets you apply shader packs during recording and rendering.
How large are ReplayMod replay files?
Replay files are very compact. An average hour-long recording stays under 10 MB because ReplayMod stores network packets rather than raw video frames.
Which Minecraft versions does ReplayMod support?
ReplayMod supports Minecraft Java Edition from 1.8 through 1.21 on both Fabric and Forge. Download the jar that matches your exact Minecraft version from the Modrinth page.
