Simply Swords adds spears, glaives, chakrams, katanas, greathammers, rapiers, and dozens of other weapon types to Minecraft Java, alongside rare unique weapons that carry their own combat effects. Fabric and NeoForge builds reach Minecraft 1.21.1, while Forge stops at 1.20.1, a full major version behind. The mod is required on both the client and the server.
Weapon types and unique finds
The base weapon set covers close-range, reach, and dual-wield options, all craftable and enchantable the same way as vanilla melee gear. Beyond the craftable list, unique weapons such as Mjolnir, the Emberblade, and the Watcher drop as rare, uncraftable loot from chests. Each one carries a distinct passive effect: Mjolnir has a chance to call down lightning while it is raining, the Emberblade cloaks its wielder in damaging flames that also grant strength, and the Watcher can drain life from nearby enemies on hit.

Required and optional add-ons
Simply Swords needs Architectury API and Fzzy Config as hard dependencies on every loader, plus Simply Tooltips, which does not yet have its own MinecraftHub page. Without these installed alongside it, the mod will not load. Better Combat is optional: leave it out and weapons use vanilla attack animations, or install it and most Simply Swords weapon types get their own attack animations and movesets instead.
Players who use Epic Fight instead of Better Combat have a separate option: a companion CurseForge addon called Simply Swords EpicFied 2 adds Epic Fight support. It is built by another creator specifically to bridge the two mods and is not part of the base Simply Swords download.
Installing Simply Swords on Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge
- 1.Install the matching mod loader (Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge) for the Minecraft version you are targeting.
- 2.Download Architectury API and Fzzy Config for that same loader and version.
- 3.Download Simply Swords and Simply Tooltips for the same loader and version.
- 4.Add Better Combat if you want the extended attack animations.
- 5.Place every jar in the mods folder on both the client and the server, then launch.
