Tiny Skeletons is a tiny skeletons mod for Fabric and NeoForge that adds baby variants of skeletons, strays, bogged, parched and wither skeletons. Baby skeletons spawn naturally with a 5% chance, the same odds as baby zombies. The mod is required on both the client and the server.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 26.3. The newest build requires Fabric API, Puzzles Lib and Forge Config API Port.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.4 to 26.3. The newest build requires Puzzles Lib.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 1.20.4, builds stopped after February 2024. The newest build requires Puzzles Lib and Forge Config API Port, optionally Forge Config Screens; builds for 1.18.2 to 1.20.1 require Puzzles Lib.
What each baby variant does
- Baby skeletons shoot bows at range, then switch to a wooden sword when you get close.
- Baby strays throw snowballs mixed with pebbles. The hits do small damage and knock you back, and the mob may drop blue ice.
- Baby bogged toss mushrooms for light damage and leave mushroom-themed drops.
- Baby parched throw chunks of sand, which makes them a handy source of sand.
- Baby wither skeletons are timid and flee when approached. Defeating one guarantees a skull drop, or you can trade it a wither rose instead.
The combat behaviour draws on the skeleton warrior from Daveyx0's Primitive Mobs. The rendering code for items carried on the back comes from Globox_Z's BackSlot, and the skull-carrying idea was inspired by Furgle's Baby Mobs.
Installing and configuring
Install the loader that matches your Minecraft release, using the guides for Fabric or Forge and NeoForge. Then follow the general mod installation steps and place the mod file with its required libraries in the mods folder.
Settings live in .minecraft/config as MOD_ID-client.toml, MOD_ID-common.toml or MOD_ID-server.toml, depending on which types exist. On Fabric, Mod Menu by Prospector opens the config screen from inside Minecraft.

Questions about Tiny Skeletons.
4 questions
How often do baby skeletons spawn in Tiny Skeletons?
Baby skeleton variants spawn naturally with a 5% chance, the same rate as baby zombies. That covers regular skeletons, strays, bogged, parched and wither skeletons, so most of the time you will still meet the normal mobs.
Do I need Tiny Skeletons on the server as well as the client?
Yes. The mod is required on both the client and the server, so a multiplayer world needs it installed in both places. Players who join without it will not match a server that has it, so share the mod file and its libraries with everyone.
How do I get a skull from a baby wither skeleton?
Baby wither skeletons carry a wither skeleton skull and run away when you approach, afraid you will steal it. Defeating one guarantees a skull drop. You can also trade it a wither rose instead of fighting it.
Does Tiny Skeletons still work on Forge?
Forge builds stopped in February 2024, so the mod is no longer updated there. Current releases target Fabric and NeoForge, and both need Puzzles Lib. Players on newer Minecraft releases should pick one of those two loaders.
