TNTimer is a client-side Minecraft mod for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge that puts a precise countdown on every primed TNT. It answers the search for a TNTimer plugin with a mod that runs only on your own machine, so the host installs nothing. Modrinth also lists plugin releases for Bukkit, Spigot, Paper and Purpur, but this page covers the mod.

What the timers show

Two display modes work together. The HUD timer lists countdowns on screen in one of seven positions (the four corners, top-center, bottom-center or under the cursor), with adjustable text scale and an optional background. The 3D world timer floats the countdown directly above each TNT.

Time appears in a plain "3.5s" format. Colour gives a quick warning: white at 2 seconds or more, orange under 2, red under 1. Up to 20 timers can be tracked at once, with the most urgent (HUD) or closest (3D) shown first. On 26.x releases it also tracks primed sulfur cubes carrying TNT.

  • Minigames, such as timing TNT jumps in Bedwars and SkyWars.
  • Parkour routes that rely on TNT jumps.
  • Redstone setups that need coordinated, timed explosions.

Setup and settings

Drop the mod file for your loader into the mods folder, then start that loader's profile. The guide to installing Java mods covers the steps if you are new to it. The 26.3 releases target Java 25.

Open the settings screen with the K key, or through Mod Menu on Fabric. Options are saved in config/tntimer.json, and tooltips explain each one. The interface is translated into English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Russian and Chinese.

Questions about TNTimer.

4 questions

Is TNTimer a plugin or a mod?

TNTimer is a client-side mod for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and this page covers the mod. Modrinth also lists plugin releases for Bukkit, Spigot, Paper and Purpur. If you want timers on your own screen, install the mod build for your loader.

Does TNTimer work on multiplayer servers?

Yes. It is client-side, so it works on any server without anything installed on the host. The timers are drawn only for you, and other players do not see them or need the mod.

What do the TNTimer colours mean?

The countdown is white at 2 seconds or more, orange under 2 seconds and red under 1 second. The time is shown in a format like 3.5s, so you can judge a TNT jump or an explosion precisely.

How do I open the TNTimer settings?

Press K by default, or open the mod list and use Mod Menu on Fabric. Settings are saved in config/tntimer.json, and tooltips explain each option.
