Too Much XP (TME) is a Minecraft Java mod and data pack that removes experience orbs and keeps your level bar high enough to enchant. It runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and the same logic also ships as a plain datapack. The server needs it. Players can join without installing anything.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric, Forge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.20.3 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it changes
Experience orbs are a known source of lag, especially around mob farms. TME gets rid of them entirely, so a farm that once flooded the floor with orbs stays light.
It suits survival players who farm mobs for materials, and creative players who like to torture mobs. It does one job and has no dependencies on any loader.
Installation
- 1.Mod route. Pick the file for your loader and Minecraft release, then put it in the mods folder of the server. New to loaders? Read how to install Minecraft mods on Java Edition first.
- 2.Datapack route. If you do not run a loader, use the plain datapack build instead.

Is Too Much XP a data pack or a mod?
Both. The creator publishes it as a datapack and as mod files for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. All of them do the same job, which is removing experience orbs while keeping your level bar high. Choose the datapack if you do not use a mod loader.
Do players need Too Much XP installed on their own game?
No. It is required on the server, while the client side is optional. Players can join a server that runs it without installing anything themselves.
Can I still enchant items with Too Much XP?
Yes. That is the point of the project. You get the lag reduction without losing enchanting.
