Complete Shield Fixes is a Fabric shield fixes mod for Java that patches two long-standing Mojang bugs, MC-105068 and MC-238293. It runs on the player's own install only and is unsupported on multiplayer hosts. Walksy made the mod, and SakuraFX drew the icon.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.19.4 to 26.2. The newest build requires WalksyLib; some builds for 1.19.4 to 1.21.5 need no dependencies.
What it fixes
The mod adds sound for two events:
- A player's shield being disabled.
- A shield being hit by any damage source, explosions and projectiles included.
The second fix targets the blocking animation. Sometimes a player is shielding but the shield never shows it, which makes PvP guesswork. The mod corrects that display.
It also accounts for the 5-tick delay shields have before they actually block. The raised pose appears only once blocking truly starts, so rapid shield spam no longer flashes a false guard. If you find that behaviour unhelpful, switch it off in the config screen.
Installation
- 1.Install Fabric first, following our Fabric loader guide.
- 2.Pick the mod release that matches the Minecraft release you play, then fetch WalksyLib too if that release lists it as required.
- 3.Put the mod file and any library file in the mods folder, as described in the Java mod install guide.
- 4.Launch the Fabric profile. The config screen holds the option to disable the blocking delay behaviour.
Questions about Complete Shield Fixes.
3 questions
Does Complete Shield Fixes work on multiplayer?
It is required on the player's own install, and it is not supported on the hosting side.
Which shield bugs does the mod fix?
It addresses Mojang bug MC-105068, which covers missing shield sounds, and MC-238293, where a shielding player sometimes does not display blocking. It adds sounds for a shield being disabled and for a shield being hit by any damage source, including explosions and projectiles.
Can I turn off the shield blocking delay?
Yes. The mod waits out the 5-tick shield delay before showing a player as blocking, so the pose matches real blocking. If that feels unhelpful or annoying, you can disable the behaviour in the mod's config screen.
