uku's Armor HUD

A minimalist widget that shows your equipped armor and flags low durability, with no numbers cluttering the screen. It runs on Fabric, Quilt and NeoForge and needs ukulib.

uku's Armor HUD is an armor HUD mod that draws a small widget showing the armor pieces you are wearing, plus a warning when durability runs low. It is a fork by uku of BerdinskiyBear's original Armor HUD. Fabric and Quilt builds cover 1.20.1 to 26.3, NeoForge covers 26.1 to 26.3, and it runs on the local player's side only.

The design is deliberately quiet. Other armor displays put numbers across the screen, while this one keeps to a vanilla-style widget with no extra text. Position and other widget parameters are set in a configuration file.

Loaders and dependencies

  • Fabric, 1.20.1 to 26.3. Newest release is 0.13.0 for 26.3.
  • Quilt, 1.20.1 to 26.3, using the same files as Fabric.
  • NeoForge, 26.1 to 26.3.
  • All loaders require ukulib.
  • Fabric and Quilt releases for 1.21.9 to 1.21.11 also require Fabric API.

Installation

Install the loader that matches your release, then place the mod file and ukulib in the mods folder and start the loader's profile. If you are new to this, the guide on installing Fabric covers the loader step. Ukulib has no page here.

Configuration

Settings live in a configuration file. With Fabric API present, the config can be reloaded the same way as resource packs. With Mod Menu and Cloth Config API installed, a config screen is available from the mods menu. That is documented in the original Fabric README, so check it against your loader.

Questions about uku's Armor HUD.

5 questions

How do I install uku's Armor HUD?

Install Fabric, Quilt or NeoForge for your release, then put the mod file and its ukulib dependency in the mods folder. Fabric and Quilt builds for 1.21.9 to 1.21.11 also need Fabric API. Start the loader profile and the widget appears on the screen.

Does uku's Armor HUD work with Forge?

No. The listed loaders are Fabric, Quilt and NeoForge. NeoForge builds start at 26.1, and older releases are covered only by the Fabric and Quilt builds. Forge has no build, so Forge players need another armor display mod.

Does the armor HUD mod work on multiplayer servers?

It is a local-only mod. You install it on your own machine, and installing it on a dedicated multiplayer host is unsupported. Being local, it only changes what your own screen shows.

Which Java releases does uku's Armor HUD support?

Fabric and Quilt builds run from 1.20.1 to 26.3. NeoForge builds run from 26.1 to 26.3. The newest build is 0.13.0, and older builds can have different requirements, so match the file to your release.

How is this different from BerdinskiyBear's Armor HUD?

uku's Armor HUD is a fork of BerdinskiyBear's original mod. It keeps the minimalist widget and low durability warning. The MIT licence file credits the original author.
