The VillagersPlus mod extends villages with five new professions, each with its own outfit, house and workstation. It runs on Fabric (1.19 to 1.21.8), NeoForge (1.20.1 to 1.21.8) and Forge (1.19 to 1.20.1), and it must be installed on both sides in multiplayer. The workstations are working machines, not reskinned job blocks.
Professions and workstations
- Horticulturist, Flower Tub: holds up to 4 small plants or 1 tall plant, in every wood variant.
- Oceanographer, Aquarium: holds up to 4 sea plants and one bucketable entity. Fish Food enlarges the fish, Diet Food shrinks it, Calming Food settles it. Adjacent aquariums merge into a larger one.
- Alchemist, Alchemist Table: takes gunpowder as fuel, three empty bottles and one potion. A 1 in 3 chance turns the bottles into random potions. Otherwise the table explodes and the bottles and fuel are lost, though terrain stays intact.
- Occultist, Enchanted Basin: stores experience. Right-click takes it out, sneak right-click stores it.
- Miner, Ore Grinder: a furnace-style ore doubler with input, fuel, output and pickaxe slots. Pickaxe material sets the speed, from 800 ticks with no pickaxe to 100 with gold. Fortune adds yield, the pickaxe wears down, and a redstone signal pauses the machine.
A shaft descends beneath every miner's house and, by default, ends in a real vanilla mineshaft with corridors, rails, cobwebs and minecart chests. The miner's house generates in plains, savanna and taiga villages.
Dependencies by loader
- Newest builds on all three loaders require VillagersTradingPlus, the library that builds every trade.
- Fabric also needs Fabric API. NeoForge does not.
- Older builds differ.
Trades and configuration
Every trade is JSON served by VillagersTradingPlus, so a datapack can add, replace or delete trades, move the currency away from emeralds and reprice vanilla professions and the wandering trader too. Trade counts and price scaling live in that library's own config.
VillagersPlus itself exposes the Enchanted Basin experience cap, whether the Alchemist Table explodes and how often, the Ore Grinder multiplier, Fortune bonus and pickaxe damage, the spawn weight of each house per village type, and whether the miner's shaft opens into a vanilla mineshaft.
Questions about VillagersPlus.
5 questions
Does VillagersPlus need Fabric API?
On Fabric, yes. The newest Fabric builds require Fabric API alongside VillagersTradingPlus. NeoForge builds do not need Fabric API, and they still require VillagersTradingPlus.
Which Minecraft versions does VillagersPlus support?
Fabric covers 1.19 to 1.21.8. NeoForge covers 1.20.1 to 1.21.8. Forge covers 1.19 to 1.20.1. The newest Fabric and NeoForge releases target 1.21.8, while the newest Forge release targets 1.20.1. Each loader has its own range, so check the one for your loader before downloading.
Does VillagersPlus work in multiplayer?
Yes, but it must be installed on both sides. Players and the host both need the mod and its required library, VillagersTradingPlus, plus Fabric API on Fabric. NeoForge does not need Fabric API. Older Forge releases for 1.19 to 1.20.1 list no dependency, so check the exact file you pick.
Can I change the trades in VillagersPlus?
Yes. Every trade is defined as JSON and served by VillagersTradingPlus. A datapack can add, replace or delete trades, change the currency from emeralds, gate trades behind conditions and reprice them, for the new professions, vanilla ones and the wandering trader.
Does VillagersPlus work on Bedrock?
No. It is a Java mod for Fabric, NeoForge and Forge, and Bedrock cannot load mods of that kind. Java mods run only with the mod loader they were made for, so Java players need Fabric, NeoForge or Forge set up before adding the mod files to the mods folder.
