XP Tome adds a single book-shaped item that stores a configurable amount of experience points. Sneak and right-click a mob or block to bank XP into the book, then right-click again to withdraw it, so a death does not wipe out levels you already earned. Dying in Minecraft normally drops most of your accumulated XP at the death site, where much of it despawns before you can collect it; keeping that XP inside a portable tome sidesteps the loss entirely. The mod runs on Fabric, Quilt, and NeoForge through the current 26.x game versions, with a separate Forge build that stopped receiving updates at 1.20.1.
XP Tome is a known fixture in RLCraft, the hardcore modpack where leveling is scarce, enchanting costs climb fast, and a single bad fight can erase hours of grinding. Players carry a filled tome before a Nether trip or a boss fight specifically to protect that investment. That is not the mod's only use: any survival world, modpack, or server where players want a portable XP bank for enchanting, villager trading, or Mending repairs gets the same benefit.
How XP Tome works
- Sneak and right-click to store XP in the tome.

- Default capacity is 1395 XP, equal to 30 levels on the XP bar.
- A config file can change the capacity, set a retrieval percentage as a cost for withdrawing, and switch withdrawals to XP orbs instead of a direct level refill, useful for feeding XP to Mending-enchanted gear.
Loader and version support
Fabric, Quilt, and NeoForge share one build line that is current through Minecraft 26.2, last published as v2.5.1 on April 28, 2026. The Forge build is a separate line and has not moved past 1.20.1 since its last release, v2.2.1, in June 2024.
Installation and dependencies
XP Tome needs a library mod alongside it. The Fabric and Quilt builds require Fabric API, and the Forge build requires Forge Config API Port. Drop the matching library and XP Tome into your mods folder for the loader you use; without the library, the mod will not load. This is a Java Edition mod only, distributed as a loader jar, with no Bedrock build.
Known issues
The retrieval percentage config option is an approximation, not an exact conversion, since Minecraft's internal XP values do not use decimals. Removing XP Tome from a world after players have stored XP in a tome will lose that banked XP along with the item, so retrieve it before uninstalling.
