Bigger Stack Size

Raises every item that normally stacks to 1 or 16 up to a stack of 64. It ships as a mod for four loaders and as a plain datapack.

Bigger Stack Size is a bigger stack size fix for Minecraft Java. Potions, boats, beds, signs, ender pearls and other items that normally stack to 1 or 16 now stack to 64. It runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and the same author also ships it as a plain datapack.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.3. The newest build requires 5555ff-lib; builds for 1.21.6 to 26.2 need no dependencies; builds for 1.20.1 to 1.21.11 need no dependencies.

What it changes

Items update once they are in your inventory. The list covers the awkward inventory hogs and a few oddities.

  • Armor stands, banners, banner patterns, beds, signs and hanging signs
  • Boats, chest boats, minecarts and saddles
  • Potions, splash potions, lingering potions, stews and honey bottles
  • Ender pearls, eggs, snowballs, cake and totems of Undying
  • Discs, empty buckets, empty shulker boxes, spyglasses, writable books, goat horns and horse armor

Installation

Two routes work. For the mod, pick the jar that matches your loader and game release and put it in the mods folder, along with any dependency listed above. The mod installation guide covers the folder and profile steps. The datapack route uses the separate datapack build instead of a loader jar.

The mod is required on the server. Players joining can run without it, since the client side is optional.

Configuration and limits

The config command is /trigger bigger_stack_size.config. If disabled in the config, items reset to their old size when you split a stack in your inventory. To choose which items stack, edit datapack/bigger_stack_size/tags/item/stackable.json.

Questions about Bigger Stack Size.

4 questions

How do I make more items stack to 64 in Minecraft?

Install Bigger Stack Size as a mod for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt, or add it as a datapack to a world. Items that normally stack to 1 or 16 then stack to 64 once they are in your inventory. The affected list includes potions, boats, beds, signs and ender pearls.

Can I use Bigger Stack Size without a mod loader?

Yes. The author publishes a plain datapack alongside the loader jars, so the stack changes are available without Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt. Items that normally stack to 1 or 16 then stack to 64 once they are in your inventory.

Does Bigger Stack Size need to be on the server?

Yes. The server side is required and the client side is optional, so players joining can run without it. Server owners should add it to the server's mods folder with the jar that matches their loader. Items then stack to 64 once they are in an inventory.

How do I stop one item from stacking?

Name the item "unstackable" with an anvil. That keeps it outside the 64 rule, which helps with item sorters. You can also edit the stackable.json tag file to remove whole item types from the list.
