AdvancedServerList is a server plugin that controls how your server appears in a player's multiplayer screen. It runs on Paper, Folia, Velocity, BungeeCord and Waterfall, and older Spigot builds have stopped. It is installed on the server or proxy only, so players join with a normal setup.
Server software and versions
- Folia and Paper: Minecraft 1.19 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally MiniPlaceholders, ViaVersion and Maintenance; some builds for 1.20 to 1.20.4 require ViaVersion and Maintenance.
- Velocity: Minecraft 1.19 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally MiniPlaceholders, Maintenance and PAPIProxyBridge; some builds for 1.20 to 1.20.4 require Maintenance and PAPIProxyBridge.
- BungeeCord and Waterfall: Minecraft 1.19 to 26.1.2. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Maintenance and PAPIProxyBridge; some builds for 1.20 to 1.20.4 require Maintenance and PAPIProxyBridge.
- Spigot: Minecraft 1.19 to 1.20.2, builds stopped after October 2023. The newest build needs no dependencies, optionally Maintenance.
How server list profiles work
Each look is a Server List Profile, a single YAML file in the plugin's `profiles` folder. Every profile carries a priority and an optional condition. The plugin checks profiles from the highest priority number down and uses the first one whose condition returns true. A profile with no condition always matches, which makes it a natural fallback.
- MOTD text
- Player count text
- Player count hover text
- Favicon
Placeholders and formatting
Built-in placeholders use the `${ }` format borrowed from BungeeTabListPlus and work in every text option. PlaceholderAPI placeholders in the `% _ %` format work everywhere except the `condition` option. Other plugins can add their own placeholders through the AdvancedServerList API.
Text uses MiniMessage rather than legacy `&` codes, which makes RGB gradients easier to write and the files easier to read. Moving from MiniMOTD is covered by the `/asl migrate MiniMOTD` command.
Installation
- 1.Drop the file for your platform into the plugins folder, following the plugin install guide.
- 2.Keep your Server List Profile YAML files in the plugin's `profiles` folder.

Questions about AdvancedServerList.
4 questions
Do players need to install AdvancedServerList?
No. The plugin runs only on the server or proxy and changes what the multiplayer list shows. Players join with a normal setup and see the MOTD, player count text, hover text and favicon that the active profile defines.
Does AdvancedServerList work on Velocity and BungeeCord?
Yes. There are builds for Velocity, BungeeCord and Waterfall as well as Paper and Folia. Spigot builds stopped after October 2023, so Paper is the better choice on a single server.
Can I use PlaceholderAPI placeholders in AdvancedServerList?
Yes. PlaceholderAPI placeholders in the % _ % format work in all text options of a profile except the condition option. The plugin's own placeholders use the ${ } format and work everywhere, including conditions.
How do I switch from MiniMOTD to AdvancedServerList?
Run the /asl migrate MiniMOTD command. It downloads the HOCON part of the Configurate library to read the old configuration, and that library can be removed after the next restart.
