DeluxeMenus

DeluxeMenus builds custom inventory GUI menus for Bukkit, Paper, and Spigot entirely from YAML, with PlaceholderAPI required to power its placeholders and click actions.

DeluxeMenus is a Bukkit, Paper, and Spigot plugin that builds custom inventory GUI menus entirely from YAML, no client mod or resource pack needed. A menu file sets a title, an open command, an inventory type, and a grid of items, then wires each item to actions like running a command, opening another menu, or closing the GUI. PlaceholderAPI is a required dependency, not an optional add-on: the creator's own wiki and GitHub README both list it under required dependencies, since DeluxeMenus leans on it for the placeholders that show a player's balance, rank, or stats inside a menu.

Building a menu in YAML

Each menu lives in its own YAML file. `menu_title` sets the header text and accepts PlaceholderAPI placeholders, `open_command` sets the single-word command that opens the GUI, and `inventory_type` swaps the layout from a standard chest to options like an anvil, furnace, hopper, or ender chest. `size` and `update_interval` control the grid dimensions and how often items refresh, and an `open_requirement` block can gate the whole menu behind a permission, a balance, or any PlaceholderAPI expression.

Actions and click behavior

Every item slot runs one or more tagged actions. `[player]` and `[console]` fire commands, `[openguimenu]` chains to another menu with arguments carried over, `[close]` and `[refresh]` control the GUI, and `[takemoney]` or `[givemoney]` charge or pay through Vault. Actions can also carry a `<delay=>` tag in ticks or a `<chance=>` tag for randomized outcomes, turning plain menu items into timed rewards or gambling-style crate openings.

Installation and version support

Install DeluxeMenus the same way as any other Bukkit or Paper plugin: drop the jar into the `plugins` folder, install PlaceholderAPI alongside it, and restart the server. The current release, 1.14.1-Release from August 2025, ships as a single jar covering Minecraft 1.16 through the 26.2 year.drop release on Bukkit, Paper, and Spigot. Modrinth lists no separate Folia or proxy build for Velocity or BungeeCord, so treat those platforms as unsupported until the project publishes one.

Optional integrations

  • Vault: needed only for the [takemoney], [givemoney], [givepermission], and [takepermission] actions; without it those actions do nothing.
  • HeadDatabase, ItemsAdder, and Oraxen: optional, letting a menu item use a custom head or modded item instead of a vanilla material.
  • ItemJoin and CrazyCrates: separate plugins built the same YAML-first way, worth pairing with DeluxeMenus on a server leaning on custom inventory screens.

Questions about DeluxeMenus.

5 questions

Does DeluxeMenus require PlaceholderAPI?

Yes. Both the creator's wiki and the GitHub README list PlaceholderAPI under required dependencies, not optional integrations. Modrinth's own dependency metadata does not flag it as a hard install-time requirement, but the plugin needs it installed to parse the placeholders most menus are built around.

Which Minecraft version does DeluxeMenus support?

The current release, 1.14.1-Release published in August 2025, is a single jar that covers Minecraft 1.16 through the 26.2 year.drop release on Bukkit, Paper, and Spigot. There is no separate build per version; one download works across that whole range.

Does DeluxeMenus work on Folia or Velocity?

Modrinth only lists Bukkit, Paper, and Spigot builds for DeluxeMenus. No Folia or proxy build (Velocity, BungeeCord, Waterfall) is published, so treat Folia and proxy support as unconfirmed rather than assuming it works.

Does DeluxeMenus need Vault?

Only for specific actions. Vault is not required to open or build menus, but the plugin's money and permission actions, [takemoney], [givemoney], [givepermission], and [takepermission], need Vault installed to function.

How do I install DeluxeMenus?

Install it like any other Bukkit or Paper plugin: drop the DeluxeMenus jar and a PlaceholderAPI jar into the server's plugins folder, then restart. PlaceholderAPI has to be present for menu placeholders to resolve correctly.
