RealScoreboard is a scoreboard plugin for Bukkit, Paper and Spigot servers that puts an animated sidebar in front of every player. Scoreboards are written in `scoreboards.yml` with placeholders, conditions and HEX colours. It runs on the server only, so players install nothing.

Server software and versions

  • Bukkit: Minecraft 1.14 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • Paper and Spigot: Minecraft 1.13 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.

What it does

  • Animated titles, plus scoreboards that cycle through several boards.
  • Per-world scoreboards, with a default for each world and a list of worlds where the scoreboard is hidden.
  • Permission scoreboards that replace the default for players who hold the permission.
  • Conditions that show one text or another depending on the value they compare.
  • HEX colours and gradients, plus announcements that show a message as a scoreboard to everyone for a few seconds.
  • Hiding while a player is vanished, based on a list of vanish commands, and stepping aside for an mcMMO scoreboard when `mcMMO-Support` is on in `config.yml`.
  • Asynchronous line refreshes to avoid flicker, and no red numbers on the right side on 1.20.3 and later.
  • SQLite or MySQL storage for each player's on/off choice.

Installation and setup

Follow the plugin install guide: put the file in the plugins folder and restart. Each scoreboard in `scoreboards.yml` sets whether it is the default, its home world, other worlds (`'*'` means all), the permission needed, a display name and a refresh rate in ticks. Every line of the `Title` list is one animation frame. Built-in placeholders work in lines, and so do all placeholders from PlaceholderAPI.

Commands and permissions

  • `/rsb toggleother` (`toggleo`, `to`) turns another player's scoreboard on or off, with `realscoreboard.admin`.
  • `/rsb setscoreboard` (`setsb`) sets a player's scoreboard, and `@a` sets it for everyone, with `realscoreboard.setscoreboard`.
  • `/rsb selectscoreboard` (`selectsb`) opens a menu for that player to pick a scoreboard, with `realscoreboard.selectscoreboard`.
  • `/rsb announce` (`broadcast`) shows a message for a set number of seconds, with `realscoreboard.setscoreboard`.
  • `/rsb hooks` and `/rsb debug` need `realscoreboard.admin`, which also opens the settings menu and reloads the plugin.
  • `realscoreboard.toggle` lets players use `/rsb toggle`, `on` and `off` for themselves.

Questions about RealScoreboard.

4 questions

How do I install RealScoreboard?

Place the plugin file in the plugins folder of a Paper or Spigot server and restart it. The default scoreboard is defined in scoreboards.yml, so you can edit it and reload the plugin. The newest release needs no other plugins. Players install nothing and join as usual.

Does RealScoreboard work with PlaceholderAPI?

Yes. RealScoreboard has its own built-in placeholders, such as player name, ping, health and food level, and all PlaceholderAPI placeholders also work in scoreboard lines. PlaceholderAPI is optional. Titles only read placeholders when Use-Placeholders-In-Scoreboard-Titles is switched on in the configuration.

Can players turn the scoreboard off?

Yes. Players can switch their own scoreboard on and off with the toggle command, which needs the realscoreboard.toggle permission, and the choice is saved. Storage uses SQLite or MySQL. Admins with realscoreboard.admin can also turn another player's scoreboard on or off.

How do I show a different scoreboard to a rank?

Give a scoreboard a Permission value in scoreboards.yml. Players who have that permission see it instead of the default scoreboard for their world. Set the value to none for a scoreboard open to everyone, and use Other-Worlds with an asterisk to show it in every world.
