InteractionVisualizer is a server plugin by LOOHP for Folia, Paper, Purpur and Spigot that animates function blocks through packets. Drop items into a crafting table and they appear on top of it as you place them. Furnaces, enchantment tables and other blocks get the same treatment. Players join with a normal client and install nothing.
Server software and versions
- Folia, Paper, Purpur and Spigot: Minecraft 1.8 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
Installation
Never installed a plugin before? The plugin installation guide covers the basics. The steps for this one are short.
- 1.Put the InteractionVisualizer jar in the plugins folder.
- 2.Start the server.
- 3.Edit the generated config.
- 4.Restart the server.
What the displays do
Every animation is sent by packet. The blocks and items do not exist on the server, so kill commands cannot remove them and they never affect the world. The trade-off is that the plugin is purely cosmetic and adds no gameplay.
Each block display can be disabled in the config. Players can toggle three modes for themselves: itemstand for flat items on armor stands and item frames, itemdrop for dropped-item visuals, and hologram for floating text such as the furnace progress bar. Toggle data is saved in SQLite by default or in MySQL, and some hologram text follows each player's own language. With PlaceholderAPI installed, the toggle status is exposed as placeholders.
Commands and permissions
- /interactionvisualizer reload (permission interactionvisualizer.reload, op by default)
- /interactionvisualizer refresh redraws the displays for the player running it (interactionvisualizer.refresh, everyone)
- /interactionvisualizer toggle changes display options (interactionvisualizer.toggle, everyone; interactionvisualizer.toggle.others is op)
- /interactionvisualizer update checks for updates (interactionvisualizer.update, op)
/iv works as the short form of every command.

Questions about InteractionVisualizer.
5 questions
How do I install InteractionVisualizer?
Place the plugin jar in the plugins folder of a Folia, Paper, Purpur or Spigot server, then start it. Edit the generated config to switch off any block displays you do not want, and restart. Players do not install anything and join with a normal client.
Does InteractionVisualizer work on Folia?
Yes. Folia is one of the four server types the plugin lists builds for, alongside Paper, Purpur and Spigot. The newest release needs no other plugins installed, so a Folia server can run it on its own.
Do players need to install anything to see the animations?
No. The displays are sent to players by packet, so only the server needs the plugin. Players can turn the itemstand, itemdrop and hologram modes on or off for themselves with the /iv toggle command.
Do the animated items affect the world or drop loot?
No. The blocks and items are client-side visuals and do not exist on the server. Kill commands cannot remove them, and they do not change anything in the world.
Where does InteractionVisualizer save player settings?
Player toggle choices are stored in a database, using SQLite by default. You can switch to MySQL if you prefer. The plugin also keeps a blockdata.json file with backups, which you can restore after an unclean shutdown.
