PatPat relays the Fabric mod's Shift plus right-click mob patting to servers that cannot run Fabric mods. Installing the plugin on Bukkit, Paper, Purpur, Spigot, or Folia lets connected players pat any living mob and see each other's animations, across a version range from 1.16.5 up through the current 26.2 drop. Every player still needs the client-side PatPat mod; the plugin only bridges the packets between them.
How patting works
Press Shift and right-click any living mob, from a cow to a Warden, to trigger the pat animation. The interaction is purely cosmetic. It does not deal damage, tame, or otherwise change the mob's behavior. Nearby players who also have the mod installed see the same animation play out, which is what makes the plugin worth running on a shared server instead of leaving it as a solo party trick.

Supported Minecraft versions
The plugin's current build, version 1.2.5, declares support from 1.16.5 through the present 26.2 drop, but that single build was last published in February 2026. Bukkit-family plugins often keep working across new Minecraft versions without a rebuild, and the listed range reflects that, not a fresh test against every version. The actively developed Fabric and NeoForge mod builds ship far more often, most recently for 26.2.

Custom pat animations
The pat animation itself is not fixed. LopyMine and the community publish resource packs that swap in different reactions, some sincere and some deliberately unhinged, and the project wiki documents how to build one. If your server already leans into cosmetic extras, GSit covers sitting the same way PatPat covers patting, and Emotecraft is the closest Fabric-side equivalent for player emotes.
