Enchantment Outlines

A glow-outline resource pack for enchanted tools and weapons, made by tixul and downloaded almost 6 million times. Not to be confused with the smaller, separately-owned Enchantment Outline pack.

Vindicator raid fight with an enchanted iron axe showing its Enchantment Outlines glow

Enchantment Outlines adds a bright glow-style outline around every enchantable tool and weapon in Minecraft Java, so an enchanted pickaxe or sword reads at a glance instead of hiding its glint in the item bar. tixul's pack covers 1.19.3 through 26.2 and has passed 5.9 million downloads since its April 2025 launch. It is a texture and model change, not a shader or a mod, so it drops straight into the resource packs folder like any other pack.

Enchantment Outlines is not the smaller Enchantment Outline pack

Two separate Modrinth projects share almost the same name. This page covers Enchantment Outlines (plural), tixul's pack at 5.9 million downloads. A different project called Enchantment Outline (singular) is owned by Fishysalmon02 and sits at roughly 500,000 downloads, a fraction of the size. tixul is also listed as a team member on that smaller project, which is likely why the two get confused, but they are different downloads with separate file histories. Check the title carefully before installing either one.

What changes visually

The pack replaces the vanilla enchantment shimmer on tools, weapons, and the trident with a solid pink-purple outline around the item model, including the 3D bow and mace models. The creator credits Oreville Studios as the visual inspiration. Players who want a different outline color can switch to the separately maintained Masky Enchanted Items pack, since Enchantment Outlines itself ships one fixed look with no built-in color options.

How the outlines render, and when you need CIT Resewn

From Minecraft 1.21.4 onward, the outlines render through Minecraft's own item model system, so the pack works entirely on its own. On 1.21.3 and earlier, the game does not yet support that rendering path, and the outlines need CIT Resewn installed alongside the pack to show up at all.

Compatibility with shaders and Sodium

The creator lists Enchantment Outlines as compatible with Sodium and with most shader packs, since it only swaps item textures and models rather than touching lighting or rendering code. A shader pack that changes how held items render is the one case worth testing yourself before committing to a modpack setup.

Supported Minecraft versions

  • 1.19.3 through 1.21.3: works, but needs CIT Resewn installed
  • 1.21.4 through 26.2: works on its own, no companion mod needed
  • Latest build: version 1.10.8, published August 2026

Questions about Enchantment Outlines.

5 questions

What is the difference between Enchantment Outlines and Enchantment Outline?

They are different Modrinth projects. Enchantment Outlines (plural, this page) is made by tixul and has passed 5.9 million downloads. Enchantment Outline (singular) is a separate, smaller pack owned by Fishysalmon02 with about 500,000 downloads. Both add glow-style outlines to enchanted gear, but they are not the same download.

Do I need CIT Resewn to use Enchantment Outlines?

Only on Minecraft 1.21.3 and earlier. From 1.21.4 onward, Minecraft's own item model system renders the outlines without any help. On older versions, install CIT Resewn first, or the glowing outlines will not appear on your tools and weapons at all.

Is Enchantment Outlines compatible with shaders and Sodium?

Yes. The creator lists it as compatible with Sodium and with most shader packs, since it only replaces item textures and models rather than touching lighting or rendering code. If a specific shader pack changes item rendering, test it in your own setup first.

Which Minecraft versions does Enchantment Outlines support?

The current build, version 1.10.8 published in August 2026, covers Minecraft Java 1.19.3 through 26.2, the year-based numbering Mojang adopted in 2026. Versions 1.21.4 and later work without any companion mod, while anything from 1.21.3 back needs CIT Resewn installed alongside the pack to render correctly.

Where can I download Enchantment Outlines?

Through its official Modrinth page, linked directly from this page. Modrinth lists the project under an all-rights-reserved license with no public source repository, so we link straight to the creator's own listing rather than hosting or mirroring the file anywhere on this site.
