Crucify

A deliberately nauseating fantasy shader pack by Coredex that bends the sky, terrain, water and weather into psychedelic distortion. It needs Iris or OptiFine on Java.

Crucify is a fantasy shader pack from Coredex that sets out to make the world horrifying, not pretty. It runs on Iris and OptiFine for Java, and it warps the sky, terrain, water, weather and screen with strobing, psychedelic colour. Think of it as a prank pack or a novelty, not a polish pass.

Shader loaders and versions

  • Iris and OptiFine: Minecraft 1.17 to 1.21.9.

Effects

Nearly every part of the picture is bent on purpose. The pack lists these effects.

  • Sky insanity, with psychedelic patterns and distortions.
  • Terrain warping, so the world wobbles and shifts underfoot.
  • Entity distortion, twisting mobs and players.
  • Hand movements that play unnatural animations.
  • Water chaos, turning water into a nauseating colour storm.
  • Weather madness, with rain and snow moving in impossible patterns.
  • Rainbow horror, cycling colours through nightmarish hues.
  • Screen distortion that warps and pulses the whole view.
  • Texture warping across every surface.

Installing Crucify

The requirements are Java and Iris Shaders. The pack's builds also cover OptiFine, so either loader works. For a walkthrough of the loader side, see the shader install guide.

  1. 1.Install Iris (or OptiFine) for your release.
  2. 2.Place the Crucify .zip in the shaderpacks folder.
  3. 3.Select Crucify in the loader's shader menu. In Iris, that is Video Settings, then Shader Packs.

Trade-offs

This is a single-purpose pack. It has no listed presets, no performance tier and no soft, realistic look to fall back on. Bedrock cannot run Iris or OptiFine, so the pack is Java only. If it fails to load, the shader troubleshooting guide covers the usual causes.

Questions about Crucify.

3 questions

How do I install Crucify?

Install Iris or OptiFine, then put the Crucify .zip into your shaderpacks folder and select it in the loader's shader menu. In Iris, that menu is Video Settings, then Shader Packs. The pack lists Iris Shaders as its requirement and runs on Java only, so Bedrock players cannot use it.

Does Crucify work with Iris and OptiFine?

Yes. The pack ships builds for both loaders, and each covers releases 1.17 to 1.21.9. The creator's page names Iris Shaders as the requirement, so Iris is the safest starting point if you are unsure which loader to pick.

Is Crucify safe for people with photosensitivity?

No safety claim can be made. The creator warns that the pack uses strobing, flickering and rapid colour changes that may trigger photosensitive conditions, and says to use it at your own risk. If flashing visuals affect you, skip this pack.
