Cursed View

A shader pack by xsoras that deliberately distorts lighting, color and geometry to make Java worlds look wrong. Runs on Iris and OptiFine and is built for chaos, not beauty.

Cursed View is a cursed view shader pack for Java that sets out to break how the world looks. It runs on Iris and OptiFine, and xsoras made it for glitchcore projects, cursed videos and anyone who wants to mess with their own perception. It does not try to be pretty, and it says so.

Shader loaders and versions

  • Iris and OptiFine: Minecraft 1.17 to 26.3.

What it does to the view

The pack trades beauty and realism for distortion and discomfort. The description promises the following.

  • Overexposed lighting that burns the world in light
  • Colors that look like they are fighting each other
  • Shadows that do not behave the way they should
  • Blocks and entities that feel distorted or almost corrupted
  • A surreal atmosphere that turns peaceful villages into cursed zones

xsoras recommends the Quake Pro FOV setting to get the full effect.

Installing Cursed View

  1. 1.Install Iris (on Fabric or NeoForge) or OptiFine.
  2. 2.Get the pack from CurseForge and drop the .zip into your shaderpacks folder.
  3. 3.Open Video Settings, then Shader Packs, and select Cursed View.
  4. 4.Raise your FOV to Quake Pro.

New to shader loaders? The shader install guide walks through the folder and menu steps. Bedrock cannot run Iris or OptiFine, so this pack is Java only.

Questions about Cursed View.

4 questions

How do I install Cursed View?

Install Iris or OptiFine, then place the Cursed View .zip in your shaderpacks folder. Launch Java, open Video Settings, choose Shader Packs and select it from the list. The pack's author also suggests setting your FOV to Quake Pro to get the intended distortion.

Does Cursed View work with Iris and OptiFine?

Yes. The pack ships a build for each loader, and neither build lists any required dependency. Iris runs on Fabric or NeoForge. Pick whichever you already use, since the pack asks for nothing else.

What FOV does Cursed View recommend?

The description recommends the Quake Pro FOV setting. It is meant to push the distortion further and fully embrace the chaos.

Does Cursed View work on Bedrock?

No. Cursed View is a Java shader pack that needs Iris or OptiFine, and both are Java mods that Bedrock cannot run. Bedrock uses a different shader format, so this pack will not load there.
