Backpacks by Four is a Bedrock addon from FourWorldsStudios that adds wearable backpacks for carrying extra items. It runs on Bedrock Edition only and ships as a single .mcaddon file. Where many inventory addons pile on menus, this one keeps the interface close to vanilla.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.21.130 to 1.21.132.

What it adds

The design goal is "simplistic but effective": storage you can use on a long cave dive or a trek to a distant biome without breaking immersion. Everything starts at the Assembly Bench, which you need before you can make any backpack.

  • Craft backpacks at the Assembly Bench, and change the dye colour to choose the backpack colour.
  • Sneak and interact with a backpack to put it on your back.
  • Jump and sneak while standing still to take it off.
  • Interact to store items in the backpack.
  • Cat backpacks come from crafting String with another coloured backpack.
  • Wood backpacks come from crafting String and Leather with Logs, Stripped Logs or Planks.

How to install Backpacks by Four

Open the .mcaddon file with Minecraft and it imports automatically. Then switch the packs on per world, under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs in the world settings. If you have not imported an addon before, the install guide for Bedrock addons walks through each step. The newest file lists no required dependencies.

3 questions

How do I install Backpacks by Four on Bedrock?

Open the .mcaddon file with Minecraft on Windows, phone or tablet and the pack imports itself. Then open your world's settings and activate the addon under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs. Load the world and use the Assembly Bench, which you need before making any backpack.

How do I put on and take off a backpack?

Sneak and interact with a backpack to place it on your back. To remove it, stand still, then jump and sneak at the same time. Interacting with the backpack lets you store items in it.

How do I craft cat and wood backpacks?

For a cat backpack, craft String with another coloured backpack. For a wood backpack, craft String and Leather with Logs, Stripped Logs or Planks. Standard backpacks come from the Assembly Bench, where the dye colour you pick sets the backpack colour.
