Bedrock Performance Optimizer is a Bedrock addon from CoconutQualityModding that trims rendering and entity load to raise frame rates without turning visuals low quality. It works on Bedrock only and needs no experimental settings. Its pitch is a performance optimizer that changes how Bedrock draws and cleans up, not how it looks.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 26.20 to 26.40.
What it changes
The EDGE subpack, which is on by default and can be switched off if it causes trouble, covers texture filtering, low precision and fog cleanup.
- Texture filtering uses Point instead of bilinear or texel anti-aliasing, so many pixels need about four times fewer calculations. Close-up surfaces look sharper, while distant ones may look slightly off.
- Low precision swaps some FP32 work for FP16, saving memory bandwidth and GPU load.
- Fog is cleaned up and reduced.
- Dropped items group together. XP orbs are left alone.
- Particles are thinned, so a crit hit scatters 10 instead of 20.
- Falling blocks such as gravel disappear after a few seconds.
Despawning rules
Mobs that are far away or off screen despawn sooner. In loaded chunks that happens after 3 minutes and 20 seconds, while mobs in unloaded chunks go right away. Arrows and similar entities despawn after 10 seconds. Bosses, nametagged mobs, tamed mobs and anything over 130 hearts are never touched, and animals standing close together stay so mob farms keep working.
A config file in the pack folders holds a Do Not Despawn blacklist for addon mobs. Support is already built in for Better on Bedrock and Mythological Craft, plus Darkage Bizarre, Billey Mobs and several others. An optional behavior pack, Fixed Vanilla Mob Despawning, does the reverse for vanilla mobs. It stops freshly spawned ones vanishing as you walk away and lets you set the distance.
Setup and config
- 1.Import the pack as described in how to install add-ons on Bedrock.
- 2.Switch it on for your world under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs.
- 3.Run /scriptevent perf:cfg to open the settings.
- 4.Run /reload after changes. Slider options always need it.

Questions about Bedrock Performance Optimizer.
3 questions
Does Bedrock Performance Optimizer need experimental toggles?
No. The creator states that no experimental settings are needed, so you import the pack, switch it on for your world under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs, and play. Only the optional Fixed Vanilla Mob Despawning pack is a separate extra, and it is not an experiment toggle.
How do I change the settings of Bedrock Performance Optimizer?
Run /scriptevent perf:cfg in your world to open the in-world config. If a change does not seem to apply, run /reload. Slider options always need a reload. Mob blacklists are edited in the config file found in the pack folders.
Which mobs does the optimizer never despawn?
Bosses such as the Ender Dragon, nametagged mobs and every tamed mob are left alone. Mobs with more than 130 hearts are treated as bosses, and animals close together stay put so farms still work. Addon mobs can be protected through the blacklist in the config file.
