Debug Stick is a debug stick addon for Bedrock that ports the item Java players have long used to edit block states in place. It is made by vytdev and works on Bedrock only.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.20 to 26.50.

What it does

Hold the stick and tap a block to cycle through its states. Long-press to choose which property you are changing. Actionbar messages tell you what is selected, so you are never guessing.

  • Waterlog chests, or switch furnaces between lit and unlit.
  • Turn a block to a new direction, or change its wood type.
  • Make ladders stick on air.
  • Sneak and tap any block to open the block viewer.

Block viewer

The viewer is a Bedrock-only extra, not part of the Java item. It reports the block ID, its location, matter state (solid, liquid or gas), redstone power from 0 to 15, whether arrows can pass through it, its property states and its tags. Mapmakers and redstoners get the most from it. The viewer needs Minecraft Bedrock 1.20.60 or higher.

How to install Debug Stick

  1. 1.Pick the release that matches your game on CurseForge. Only the first two numbers of the add-on's number need to match your Minecraft release.
  2. 2.Open the file with Minecraft to import it. The add-on install guide covers each platform.
  3. 3.Switch the pack on in your world's settings.
  4. 4.Run /give @s vyt:debug_stick, or find the stick in the Creative menu.

Releases numbered 26.0 and later follow Bedrock's numbering, while 1.x.x builds cover older Minecraft.

Questions about Debug Stick.

4 questions

How do I get the debug stick in Bedrock?

Import the add-on and activate it in your world. Then type /give @s vyt:debug_stick, or take the stick from the Creative menu. Bedrock has no built-in debug stick, so this add-on supplies the item.

Does the Debug Stick addon need experimental toggles?

The newest build requires nothing. Older Minecraft releases do: Holiday Creator Features below 1.20.30, and Beta APIs below 1.21.70. Turn them on in the world's settings before loading.

What does the block viewer show?

Sneak and tap a block to see its ID, location, matter state, redstone power, whether arrows pass through it, its property states and its tags. The viewer needs Minecraft Bedrock 1.20.60 or higher.

Can I use the Debug Stick addon on Java Edition?

No. This is a Bedrock add-on, and Java cannot load it. Java already has its own debug stick item, which this add-on ports to Bedrock.
