Better Smelters is a Bedrock addon from DoriosStudios that adds eleven furnace tiers, from oak wood up to Nether Star. Each tier smelts faster and burns fuel more slowly, and the furnaces can run on their own from chests. It is Bedrock only, and the listing names no required dependencies.

Furnace tiers
Fuel figures are multipliers, so lower means fuel lasts longer. A furnace at 0.1 gets ten times more smelts per fuel item than a regular one.
- Oak Wood Furnace, 1x speed, normal fuel use
- Copper Furnace, 1.5x speed, 1.0 fuel
- Iron Furnace, 2x speed, 1.0 fuel
- Netherrack Furnace, 2x speed, no fuel use
- Gold Furnace, 3x speed, 0.8 fuel
- Emerald Furnace, 5x speed, 0.6 fuel
- Diamond Furnace, 10x speed, 0.4 fuel
- Amethyst Furnace, 15x speed, 0.4 fuel
- Netherite Furnace, 20x speed, 0.2 fuel
- Blazing Furnace, 25x speed, 0.1 fuel
- Nether Star Furnace, 10x speed with a full stack per cycle, 0.01 fuel
Upgrades and automation
Furnaces upgrade without being broken. Interact with one while holding the matching upgrade item and it evolves to the next tier, taking on that material's speed and fuel use. The Netherite Furnace is crafted from an Amethyst Furnace and a Diamond Furnace.
Every smelter also works by hand like a normal furnace. For automation, place a chest, barrel or hopper on each side that matters:
- Input items come from the container on the left.
- Fuel comes from the container on top.
- Output goes to the container on the right, as long as it has space.

How do I upgrade a furnace in Better Smelters?
Hold the upgrade item for the next tier and interact with the furnace. It evolves automatically into the next tier without being broken or replaced. Each upgrade changes smelting speed and fuel use to match the material.
Does the Netherrack Furnace in Better Smelters use fuel?
No. The Netherrack Furnace consumes no fuel and smelts at 2x normal speed. Other tiers use fuel at a multiplier, where a lower number means the fuel lasts longer, down to 0.01 for the Nether Star Furnace.
Can Better Smelters furnaces run automatically?
Yes. A smelter pulls input items from the container on its left and fuel from the container on top. It sends finished items to the container on the right if there is one. As long as the output container has space, the smelter handles the rest on its own.
