The Backrooms is a Minecraft Backrooms addon for Bedrock from MintStudios. It adds a new dimension of endless yellow corridors, a parking-structure level, three custom entities and a portal built from crying obsidian. It is made for survival play, and it works on Bedrock only.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.21.100 to 26.30.
What it adds
- An infinite Backrooms dimension that generates without limit horizontally but stays shallow vertically, with repetitive layouts built to get you lost.
- Level 0, with yellow patterned walls, damp carpet and buzzing fluorescent lights.
- Level 1, a huge concrete parking structure with low visibility and echoing sound.
- Transitional zones between the levels, which behave like biomes that feel wrong and shift their layouts.
- Three entities. The Smiler is aggressive and drops rare loot, the Duller is slower and drops crafting materials, and the Hound completes the set.
- An Enemy Detector you craft to sense nearby entities, which reacts to distance and matters most in Level 1.
- Loot hidden in rooms and placed in dangerous areas, from basic supplies to survival resources.
Entering the Backrooms
Build a portal in the shape of a Nether portal from crying obsidian and light it with flint and steel. The portal blocks change their look, and a diamond pickaxe can still break them. Nothing promises a way back once you step through.
How to install The Backrooms
The file is a single .mcaddon, so opening it with Minecraft imports both packs. Switch on the Behavior Pack and the Resource Pack in a new world's settings. If the import fails, the guide to fixing add-ons that will not work covers the usual causes, and the Bedrock add-on install guide covers the basics.
The trade-off is scope. Two levels and three entities make a compact horror add-on, and more levels, smarter AI and deeper survival mechanics are only planned.

Questions about The Backrooms.
3 questions
How do I install The Backrooms addon on Bedrock?
Open the .mcaddon file with Minecraft so it imports. Then create a new world, open its settings, and activate both the Behavior Pack and the Resource Pack for The Backrooms before loading in. The creator recommends a fresh world for the intended experience.
How do I get into the Backrooms dimension?
Build a portal shaped like a Nether portal out of crying obsidian, then light it with flint and steel. The portal blocks change their appearance once active. A diamond pickaxe can still break them, and the addon gives no promise that you can return.
What mobs are in The Backrooms addon?
The addon adds three custom entities. The Smiler is extremely aggressive, thrives in darkness and drops rare loot. The Duller is slower but unpredictable and drops crafting materials. The Hound is the third. The craftable Enemy Detector warns you when they are near.
