Drone is a drone addon for Bedrock that adds a craftable, player-controlled drone, a remote controller and a live camera view. It is built for multiplayer, runs on Bedrock only, and needs no experimental toggles. Since the 2.6 update the drone can also carry TNT and drop it as a bomb.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.21.50 to 26.30.
What it adds
- A craftable drone and a separate controller item, both made before you can fly.
- A camera view of any of your drones, opened from the controller menu.
- Dye support for the drone (any dye or a cauldron) and for the controller (cauldron), with a 3D controller model by xonoderax.
- Settings for password protection, speed and a reverse and strafe movement toggle.
Flying and carrying
- 1.Craft the drone and the controller, then place the drone.
- 2.Interact with the controller to take control. Steer with W, touch controls or the joystick, and aim with the camera.
- 3.Press jump to boost vertical speed. Hold crouch for a quarter of a second to let go.
- 4.Pick the drone up by interacting with an empty hand.
To carry a block, place the drone exactly above it and press crouch and jump together. Press the same keys again to drop it. This works on any block, chests included. A released drone stays where it is and falls to the ground.
TNT drones and settings
Pick up TNT with crouch and jump, or right-click the drone while holding it, then drop it to cause an explosion. Operators open the admin menu with a command and can switch TNT off entirely, or tune the blast radius, fire, underwater explosions and block breaking. Players use /drone:settings for local options such as speed, capped at the admin maximum. /drone:fix helps if a drone gets stuck.
Installation
Open the .mcaddon file to import it, back up your world, then switch on both the behavior pack and the resource pack in that world's settings. Our Bedrock add-on install guide covers each platform step by step.
Questions about Drone.
4 questions
How do I install the Drone addon on Bedrock?
Open the DroneV2.7.mcaddon file with Bedrock so it imports. Back up your world first, then open its settings and enable both the Drone behavior pack and the resource pack. Craft the drone and the controller, place the drone, and interact with the controller to start flying.
Does the Drone addon need experimental toggles?
No. The creator states that no experimental features are needed, so you only have to enable the behavior and resource packs on the world. Nothing under the Experiments section has to be switched on for the drone, the camera or the TNT features.
How do I stop controlling or viewing the drone?
Hold crouch for about a quarter of a second to stop controlling it. The hold is deliberate, because crouch and jump together pick up blocks. The drone stays in place and falls to the ground. To leave the camera view, press crouch.
Can I turn off the TNT explosions in Drone?
Yes. Since update 2.7 an operator can disable TNT explosions in the admin settings. The same menu sets the blast radius and whether explosions cause fire, work underwater or break blocks, so you can keep the drone and remove the destruction.
