Holograms on Dropped Items puts a floating text label above every item dropped in the world, naming the item and showing its stack count. A Sculk block, a Diamond Sword, an Elytra, whatever hits the ground gets a hologram, so a player can tell what is worth picking up from several blocks away instead of walking over and checking the texture. It ships as a matched resource pack and behavior pack for Minecraft Bedrock, and the current release targets the 26.40 game update.

What Holograms on Dropped Items adds

Every dropped item gets a text hologram floating just above it, rendered as UI text rather than a texture or model change. The addon runs in two modes. One shows a hologram over any nearby drop for a few seconds after it lands, even without the player looking straight at it. The other only shows a hologram for the item under the player's crosshair, using raycasting to pick out the exact drop being aimed at. Both modes behave the same way for every player in a shared world.

  • Floating name and stack count hologram above every dropped item
  • Ambient mode for nearby drops and a crosshair raycast mode for a targeted drop
  • Works the same way for every player in multiplayer
  • Multiple language translations for the hologram text
  • No changes to loot tables, recipes, or world generation

How to install the resource and behavior pack

Bedrock addons come as two separate packages, a resource pack for the visuals and a behavior pack for the logic, and this one needs both installed to work.

  1. 1.Download both files from the source page: the FloatingItemsNames resource pack and the FloatingItemsNames behavior pack.
  2. 2.On Windows, move both .mcpack files into %appdata%\Minecraft Bedrock\users\shared\games\com.mojang, or open each file directly to let Minecraft import it. On mobile or console, opening the .mcpack file imports it automatically.
  3. 3.In the world's settings, enable the FloatingItemsNames resource pack and behavior pack before entering the world.
  4. 4.Drop or find an item in the world. Its name and stack count should appear as a hologram above it.

Compatibility, versions, and limits

The current release, v1.2.25, targets Bedrock 26.40. Older files on the source page reach back further, through earlier 26.x and 1.21.x releases, for players who have not updated. sirob, credited as robingoodlighting on the MCPEDL mirror, also makes Multiplayer Waypoint System, and running both addons together should not cause a conflict since neither touches the other's entities or loot tables.

Two limits are worth naming plainly. The addon is listed All Rights Reserved on CurseForge, so this page links out to the creator's own source rather than mirroring the files. And while the creator states general multiplayer support, the source does not separately confirm how it behaves on a Realms server or dedicated server software, so that detail stays unconfirmed rather than promised.

5 questions

How do I install Holograms on Dropped Items?

Download both the resource pack and behavior pack files from the source page, then move the .mcpack files into %appdata%\Minecraft Bedrock\users\shared\games\com.mojang on Windows, or open each file directly on mobile or console to import it. Turn on both packs in the world's settings before entering.

Does Holograms on Dropped Items work with other addons?

The creator lists it as compatible with all other addons, since it only adds a floating text label above dropped items and does not touch loot tables, recipes, or entities from other packs. As with any addon, test it in a backup world first.

Which Minecraft Bedrock version does Holograms on Dropped Items support?

The current release, v1.2.25, targets Bedrock 26.40 and newer. The source page also lists older files reaching back through earlier 26.x and 1.21.x releases for players on an older game version.

Is Holograms on Dropped Items safe to use on a multiplayer server?

The creator describes multiplayer support and both hologram modes working the same way for every player in a world. The source does not separately confirm behavior on a Realms server or dedicated server software, so treat that as unconfirmed rather than guaranteed.

What does the hologram actually show?

A floating text line above each dropped item naming the item and its current stack count, for example Diamond Sword x1 or Sculk x5. It adds no new item, block, or recipe. One mode shows a hologram over any nearby drop for a few seconds, the other only shows one for the item under the player's crosshair.
