Advanced Dynamic Light is a dynamic light addon for Bedrock Edition by DARKLEXx. Light-emitting items you hold brighten your surroundings in real time, using invisible light sources the addon places around players. It runs in survival and creative, and it needs no experimental toggles.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.21.80 to 26.50.
What it adds
The addon places invisible light sources around players based on what they carry. Everything is controlled through one item, the Advanced Dynamic Light Book, which opens form menus for every setting.
- Held items light the area, and offhand items work too, with a configurable activation mode.
- Items can be set to keep emitting light underwater.
- Dropped items on the ground can glow.
- Each item has its own light level, offhand, underwater and environment settings.
- Modded or custom items and blocks can be added as light sources.
- Achievements stay enabled, and the creator lists Actions & Stuff as compatible.
Get the book with `/give @s dl_adl:book`, or find it in the creative inventory under Items. The creator designed the addon to keep its performance cost low.
Multiplayer permissions
The first player to join a world becomes the Original Operator, who can grant or revoke operator rights for others. A multiplayer mode can require operator permission before anyone changes settings. Players carrying tags such as operator, op, admin, administrator or moderator also count as operators.
Installation
- 1.Get both files, the behavior pack [BP] and the resource pack [RP].
- 2.Import them into Bedrock one at a time (see the add-on install guide if the import fails).
- 3.Activate either pack on a new or existing world. The other switches on automatically.
- 4.Take the book and set up your light sources.

Questions about Advanced Dynamic Light.
4 questions
How do I install Advanced Dynamic Light on Bedrock?
Get both the behavior pack and the resource pack, then import each .mcpack into Bedrock one at a time. Activate either pack on a world and the other turns on automatically. If you import only one file, the addon may not work properly.
Does Advanced Dynamic Light need experimental toggles?
No. The creator states that the addon uses no experimental features and is compatible with other addons. Achievements stay enabled, so you can use it in a normal survival world without changing the Experiments settings.
How do I open the settings in Advanced Dynamic Light?
Run `/give @s dl_adl:book` to receive the Advanced Dynamic Light Book, or take it from the creative inventory under Items. The book opens menus for per-item light levels, global behavior, custom light sources and operator permissions.
Can I make custom items glow with this addon?
Yes. The book lets you add modded or custom items and blocks as dynamic light sources. You can set each one's light level, whether it works in the offhand, whether it glows underwater, and whether it lights up when dropped on the ground.
