The java pvp core addon by YTAUN ports Java Edition combat to Bedrock. It adds attack cooldowns, charge-scaled damage, sweep attacks, critical hits and a Java-style shield. It runs on the stable Script API and needs no experimental toggles.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 26.10 to 26.50.

What it changes

  • Damage follows the Java charge formula, damage × (0.2 + 0.8 × charge²), so spam-clicking no longer does almost nothing.
  • Every weapon and tool uses its exact Java stats, and the item tooltip shows Java damage including enchantments.
  • Sharpness, Smite and Bane of Arthropods scale with charge. Fire Aspect and Knockback work, and Weakness is −4 per level.
  • Critical hits need a charged attack, sprint hits knock back further, and charged sword hits deal 1 damage to mobs next to the target.
  • Swords, axes, pickaxes, shovels, hoes and the mace get the Java cooldown animation, where the weapon dips after a hit and rises as it recharges.

Shield behaviour

Bedrock cannot tell add-ons that right-click is being held on vanilla items, so the shield toggles. Press once to raise it and again to lower it. While raised it blocks players, mobs and arrows from the front with no knockback, and slows you to 20% speed, as in Java. Axe hits disable it for 5 seconds, and it lowers on its own when you attack or switch items. Sneaking still blocks.

How to install Java PvP Core

  1. 1.Get jpvp_core_v4_8_2.mcaddon from the CurseForge page and open it with Minecraft to import it (the install guide covers each device).
  2. 2.Switch the pack on in the world's settings under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs.
  3. 3.Leave the Experiments toggles alone. The addon needs none and uses no Beta APIs.

For addon makers

Other addons can hook in. The jpvp:override scriptevent accepts an optional isSword field for custom weapons that lack the minecraft:is_sword tag, and jpvp:clear releases an override. The jpvp:sweep:fire tag on a sword makes a charged sweep show orange-red flames and set caught mobs alight for 3 seconds. The command /scriptevent jpvp:debug prints each hit's damage and shield state in chat.

Questions about Java PvP Core.

4 questions

How do I install Java PvP Core on Bedrock?

Download the .mcaddon file from CurseForge and open it with Minecraft, which imports the pack automatically. Then create or edit a world, open its settings and activate the pack under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs. No experimental toggles are needed, so you can start fighting right away.

Does Java PvP Core need experimental toggles?

No. The newest build requires no experiments and uses the stable Script API with no Beta APIs. You only need to switch on the behavior and resource packs in the world settings before you load in.

Do achievements still work with Java PvP Core?

Yes, on Bedrock 26.52 or later. Releases 26.50 and 26.51 disabled achievements for every external add-on, and Mojang reverted that change in 26.52.

How does the shield work in Java PvP Core?

Right-click toggles it. Press once to raise the shield and press again to lower it, because Bedrock cannot detect a held right-click on vanilla items for add-ons. Blocking slows you to 20% speed, and sneaking still blocks too.
