Rise and Survive title card showing Ranzie's zombie apocalypse cast for Minecraft Bedrock

Rise and Survive turns ordinary Minecraft survival into a progression based zombie apocalypse. A difficulty bar climbs every day a world stays alive, and every eight days the zombies get faster, tougher, and pick up new abilities. It targets Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.130 and installs as a single .mcaddon file from creator Ranzie.

What Rise and Survive changes in Minecraft

The addon disables vanilla hostile mobs, though their loot still drops from the zombies that replace them, and adds nine zombie classes that each bring a different threat.

  • Miner Zombies break blocks to reach you, faster at higher difficulty
  • Block Placer Zombies tower up and bridge to chase you at any height
  • Witch Zombies throw and drink potions
  • Bomber Zombies throw damage only TNT
  • Ender Zombies teleport with ender pearls
  • Jumpers leap at you and onto blocks, Crawlers squeeze through small spaces
  • Revealers scream to expose your location, then flee, Spitters attack from range

Horde leaders raise the stakes further. Giant zombies jump and summon fangs, Tank zombies soak up damage, and Necromancers summon more zombies mid fight. Every eight days a Blood Moon disables sleep and guarantees one or two horde attacks, with every zombie in the horde already aware of the player's position.

Infection, defenses, and new gear

Getting hit carries a chance of infection, adjustable by the world host from 0 to 100 percent. An infected player collapses once the infection timer runs out, and a Golden Apple is the only cure. New defensive blocks include Wired Fence, Cheval Fence, Wired Wall, Spiked Plate, and Spiked Fence, the reinforced version of which zombies cannot break at all, plus a Chain Fence that holds until difficulty 75. Six new melee weapons round out the loadout: Bolo, Katana, Dagger, Saber, Longsword, and Hammer.

How to install Rise and Survive on Bedrock

  1. 1.Download the .mcaddon file from the official CurseForge project page
  2. 2.Open the downloaded file on a device with Minecraft Bedrock installed, which should import both packs automatically
  3. 3.If it does not import on its own, extract the .mcaddon as a zip and copy the behavior pack folder into %appdata%\Minecraft Bedrock\users\shared\games\com.mojang\behavior_packs and the resource pack folder into the matching resource_packs folder
  4. 4.Create or open a world, then apply both the Rise and Survive behavior pack and its resource pack under that world's Behavior Packs and Resource Packs tabs

What to know before you install

CurseForge lists no license for this project, so it is treated here as all rights reserved until Ranzie says otherwise, meaning this page links to the download rather than redistributing it. The blood screen effect and glowing zombie eyes are also visual bonuses that only appear with a compatible visual pack or Vibrant Visuals rendering enabled. Without either, the addon still runs, just without that extra atmosphere.

Questions about Rise and Survive.

5 questions

How do I install Rise and Survive on Minecraft Bedrock?

Download the .mcaddon file from the official CurseForge project page and open it on a device with Minecraft Bedrock installed. Most devices import both the behavior pack and resource pack automatically. If that does not happen, extract the file and copy the two pack folders into the behavior_packs and resource_packs folders inside com.mojang, then apply both to your world.

Which Minecraft Bedrock version does Rise and Survive support?

The current release, version 1.2, targets Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.130. Ranzie updates the addon through its CurseForge project page, so check that page for a newer build before installing it on a different Bedrock version.

Does Rise and Survive work on Realms or multiplayer servers?

The CurseForge listing does not document Realms or dedicated server behavior specifically, only that horde size and infection chance are configurable in the addon's own settings. Treat it as built for single player and locally hosted worlds until the creator confirms multiplayer support.

Is Rise and Survive safe to download?

Download it from Ranzie's official CurseForge project page or its MCPEDL mirror, both run by the same creator, rather than any third party rehost. CurseForge does not list an explicit license for the project, so treat it as all rights reserved until Ranzie states otherwise.

What happens if a zombie infects me in Rise and Survive?

Every zombie hit carries a chance to infect the player, set by the world host anywhere from 0 to 100 percent. Once infected, a hidden timer counts down, and the player collapses if it reaches zero. Eating a Golden Apple before that happens is the only way to cure the infection.
