Prehistoric Animalia is a Bedrock addon by Xterionix that fills your world with dinosaurs and other obscure prehistoric animals, with a slight fantasy tone that stays grounded and semi-accurate. It ships as a single .mcaddon file for Bedrock Edition only and is aimed at survival play.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.21.130.

What it adds

Every creature has its own temperament, spawn biomes, health and special traits, and the roster is sorted by size class starting at XS. Many are peaceful ocean and forest animals, but some fight back.

  • Yi-Qi glides, tames with spider eye, and a tamed one yields 1 to 7 berries each morning when its owner sleeps in a bed.
  • Stenonychosaurus inaequalis is aggressive, has a 40% chance to steal an item from your inventory on a hit, and retreats below 35% health. Stolen items drop when it dies.
  • Palaeophis casei attacks with poison and wither venom, after a three second charge-up for each strike.
  • Nyctosaurus lamegoi hunts fish and can spawn carrying a pouch that drops a creature material or an emerald.
  • Tyrannasorus rex is tiny and neutral, with a 1 in 1000 chance of spawning with an area roar.

Installation

Open the .mcaddon file with Minecraft Bedrock to import it, then activate the add-on's packs in each world's settings under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs. The install guide covers phones, tablets and Windows, and the troubleshooting guide helps if the creatures never appear. The listing names no required dependency packs.

Before you commit a world

The addon targets a single Bedrock release, so check yours first. The listing documents no experimental toggles and says nothing about Realms or dedicated servers, so test it in a throwaway single-player world before using it anywhere shared.

Questions about Prehistoric Animalia.

3 questions

How do I install Prehistoric Animalia on Bedrock?

Open the .mcaddon file with Minecraft Bedrock to import it, by double-clicking on Windows or opening it with Minecraft on phones and tablets. Then create or edit a world and switch on the add-on's packs in the world's settings, under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs. The newest build requires no other packs, so nothing else needs installing first.

Can I use Prehistoric Animalia on Minecraft Java Edition?

No. This is a Bedrock Edition addon, and Java Edition cannot load add-ons in this format. Java players need a separate mod built for their own edition, since this file will not import there.

Does Prehistoric Animalia need other packs or experimental toggles?

The listing shows no required dependency packs for the newest file. It also names no experimental toggles. If anything fails to load, check the creator's page for updates and follow the troubleshooting guide for add-ons that do not work.
