Sanity: Descent Into Madness is a Bedrock addon that brings the sanity mechanic from Don't Starve into survival play. PnTMC made the Bedrock port, shipped as a .mcaddon, and it follows croissantnova's Java mod so closely that almost nothing differs.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.21.90 to 26.10.
What it adds
Sanity is a new vital stat, a mental health scale you manage alongside everything else. Let it fall too far and the consequences get drastic, including death.
- As sanity drops, you hear and see things, and your vision turns muddy and blurry.
- Eventually inner entities, creations of your own mind, start attacking you.
- Certain mobs react to your unstable mental state.
- There are several ways to restore sanity and several ways to lose it.
- A garland crafted from small flowers helps you stay sane longer, but water makes it wither much faster.
Setting it up
Open the .mcaddon file with Bedrock to import it, then switch the behavior and resource packs on in your world's settings. The newest build lists no required dependencies or experimental toggles. If imports fail, the guide to fixing add-ons that will not work covers the usual causes, and the add-on install guide walks through the steps.
The addon is highly configurable. Run /sdimconfig in a world to open the configuration panel and edit the settings to your liking.
Credits and trade-offs
croissantnova programmed and drew the original mod, with art from toujourspareil (with consent) and sound effects from Zapsplat. The trade-off is scope: this is one mechanic, not a content overhaul, and it is built to match the Java original rather than extend it.

Questions about Sanity: Descent Into Madness.
3 questions
How do I install Sanity: Descent Into Madness on Bedrock?
Open the .mcaddon file with Bedrock, which imports the packs automatically. Then create or edit a world and switch on the addon's behavior pack and resource pack under the world settings. On Windows you can also place the pack folders in the com.mojang behavior_packs and resource_packs directories by hand.
How do I change the sanity settings?
Type the command /sdimconfig in a world to open the configuration panel. It lets you edit the addon's settings to your liking. The addon is described as highly configurable.
Is the Bedrock addon the same as the Java mod?
It is a port of croissantnova's Java mod, made by PnTMC, and it closely matches the original with almost no differences. Java Edition cannot load add-ons, so Java players need the original mod, while Bedrock players use this .mcaddon.
