Tree Physics

A small Bedrock addon that makes trees topple with interactive physics. Fallen trunks can be pushed, dragged and crushed into loot over time.

Tree Physics is a Bedrock-only addon from MS_Frisk that turns tree chopping into a physical event. Cut a trunk and the whole tree topples, shedding leaves and branches as it hits the ground. It is a tree physics addon for survival worlds, and the newest release asks for no other packs.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 26.30 to 26.40.

What it adds

Fallen trees interact with terrain, water, lava, entities and one another. Entities can be crushed and knocked back, fragile blocks shatter, and other physical structures get shoved aside. Leaves, attachments, branches and large trunks may break away on impact. Once a tree comes to rest, it gradually breaks down and drops its normal vanilla loot.

The Java mod of the same name inspired the gameplay design only. The creator states that everything else was developed independently.

Using it in play

  • Chop a naturally generated or sapling-grown tree to make it fall.
  • Crouch while breaking a log to chop it normally and skip the physics.
  • Attack a fallen tree to push it, or use an item while looking at it to grab and drag it. Use the item again to release it.
  • Open the settings from the axe button in the chat screen. If another resource pack clashes with that screen, pick the Compatibility subpack and run /tree_physics:settings.

World operators can tune simulation quality, breakdown rate, impact fracturing, and whether movement counts toward breakdown time. Settings are saved separately for each world. For importing the pack and switching it on, follow the Bedrock add-on install guide.

Timber Tumble expansion

An optional expansion, Tree Physics: Timber Tumble, extends the physics to conventionally generated trees from other addons. Vanilla-only play does not need it. The trade-offs are real: it only recognises trees in newly generated chunks, may miss some, and slows chunk generation. Exceptionally large trees can cause severe performance loss or crashes when they become physical, and tree-like wooden structures are rarely misidentified as trees.

Questions about Tree Physics.

3 questions

How do I make a tree fall with Tree Physics?

Break a log of a naturally generated tree or one grown from a sapling, and the whole tree topples. Trees containing player-placed logs or leaves stay ordinary blocks. If you want to chop a log normally, crouch while breaking it and the physics are bypassed.

Does Tree Physics work on an existing world?

Only partly. The addon depends on special roots it generates, so trees that existed before it was enabled remain ordinary blocks. Trees in newly generated areas and sapling-grown trees do fall. The creator recommends starting a new world for the full effect.

Can I change how Tree Physics behaves?

Yes. World operators can adjust physics simulation quality, breakdown rate, impact fracturing, and whether movement counts toward breakdown time. Open the settings from the axe button in the chat screen, or use /tree_physics:settings with the Compatibility subpack if another resource pack conflicts.
