Village Generator is a village generator addon for Bedrock that adds over 600 functions, so a full village appears from one command instead of hours of hand building. It is made for superflat worlds and quick layouts, and it runs on Bedrock only. Java cannot load it.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.21.60 to 1.21.132. The newest build optionally uses Pillage Generator and Nether Generator.

What it adds

  • Individual structures, so you can assemble a village one house at a time.
  • Instant villages, each a whole prebuilt settlement from a single command.
  • Several village types to suit a biome or theme.
  • Abandoned zombie villages, whole or as single structures.
  • Old-style villages, whole or as single structures.
  • A populate function that summons villagers, cats and an iron golem for the finished village.

It also pairs with other generators, such as Pillage Generator and Nether Generator. Both are optional.

How to use it

The pack arrives as a .mcaddon file. Follow the Bedrock add-on install guide to import it, then switch it on in the world's settings. Type /function vg/help in chat to list every function in the main directory. Each subdirectory has its own help, for example /function vg/plains/help.

  1. 1.Stand where you want the structure to start.
  2. 2.Run a function such as /function vg/instant/taiga_1 for a prebuilt Taiga Village.
  3. 3.Run /function vg/populate to add villagers, cats and an iron golem.

The trade-off

Everything runs through typed commands, and the function names follow the same complex naming scheme Bedrock uses internally. On a phone or tablet that gets tedious fast. The creator suggests Advanchat to autofill function names. If a pack refuses to appear in a world, the add-on troubleshooting guide covers the usual causes.

Questions about Village Generator.

3 questions

How do I place a village with Village Generator?

Stand where the village should begin, face the direction you want it to spread, and run an instant function such as /function vg/instant/taiga_1 in chat. Keep simulation distance at 6 chunks or higher so the whole structure loads. Then run /function vg/populate to add villagers, cats and an iron golem.

How do I list every Village Generator function?

Type /function vg/help in chat to see the functions in the main directory. Each subdirectory has a matching help function, such as /function vg/plains/help. The creator also offers a web version of the help system, which is easier to browse than chat on a small screen.

Can I use Village Generator on Java?

No. Village Generator is a Bedrock addon delivered as a .mcaddon file, and Java Edition uses a different format, so it cannot load add-ons like this one. The pack targets Bedrock 1.21.60 to 1.21.132 and works on Bedrock only. Open the file with Bedrock to import it, then switch the packs on in each world's settings.
