Luki's Grand Capitals

Luki's Grand Capitals rebuilds every vanilla village, the pillager outpost, and the woodland mansion with new architecture, one distinct building style per village type instead of a single palette swap. It ships as a plain Java data pack with no dependencies, and the same build is also packaged as a Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt mod for players who would rather install it that way. Every format currently reaches Minecraft 1.21.11.

What changes in Minecraft

The pack replaces the plains, taiga, snowy, savanna, and desert village generators with new layouts built around towers, statues, and biome-matched materials, so village types no longer share one look. The pillager outpost, woodland mansion, and swamp hut are remade the same way, and the mansion's interior rooms carry the new style too.

Installation and loader options

Download the data pack build from Modrinth and drop it into a world's datapacks folder, or a server's, then reload or restart; see our data pack install guide for the exact menu steps. No resource pack or mod loader is required for the data pack version. Players who would rather install it as a mod can use the Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt build listed on the same Modrinth page instead.

Luki's Grand Capitals needs to run on the server, since it only changes structure generation. Client installation is optional, because the new villages are built entirely from vanilla blocks with no custom textures or models.

Players comparing village overhaul data packs often weigh Luki's Grand Capitals against ChoiceTheorem's Overhauled Village (CTOV), a mod with a similar goal but a different shape. CTOV covers more variants, 23 villages and 14 pillager outposts, but ships only as a Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, or Quilt mod with no plain data pack option. Luki's Grand Capitals covers fewer village types so far, but its data pack format is the simpler install for a world that should otherwise stay vanilla.

For structure variety beyond villages, Structory and its Structory: Towers expansion add original ruins and towers across the overworld, while Dungeons and Taverns adds its own explorable buildings. All three are data packs that change what generates in a fresh world, the same lane Luki's Grand Capitals works in, just with a village focus instead of new structures.
