The Roguecraft datapack turns survival into a roguelite built around runs. Each run you aim to defeat the Ender Dragon, and when every player has died you return to a hub to spend what you earned. It is a Java Edition data pack by MonoCode, and it must be installed on the server for multiplayer worlds.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.20.2 to 1.21.11.
What changes in-game
- Skillpoints are the currency. They come from crafting with skill gems, advancements, structure chests and boss kills, and unspent ones vanish when a new run starts.
- Upgrades are permanent buffs bought in the hub, from max health and attack damage to starting items such as ender pearls.
- Abilities are spells with three levels each. You bind them to three hotbar items and cast them with mana, which regenerates slowly.
- Five classes (Tank, Mage, Healer, Glass Cannon and Reaper) add passive buffs and a stronger class ability. You hold one at a time.
- The hub, called the Cosmic Dome, links to the seal room and the Infinite Garden, a permanent building area that receives items from your last run.
A harder base game
Upgrades are strong, so vanilla is tougher. You start with five hearts and an unbreakable stone pickaxe, because tool, weapon and armor recipes are disabled apart from the bucket, flint and steel and shield. The difficulty level is shown in a bar, and as it increases mobs gain better armor and weapons, totems of undying and charged creepers.
Two bosses are included. The Wildfire waits in the Nether, and the final boss is an overhauled Ender Dragon with 10 new attacks, several phases and a custom end island. Expect a steep first run.

Questions about Roguecraft.
5 questions
How do I install the Roguecraft data pack?
Place the data pack .zip in your world's datapacks folder, or add it through the Data Packs button while creating a world, then run /reload in an existing world. Also install the required resource pack, since Roguecraft depends on it.
Does Roguecraft need a resource pack?
Yes. Roguecraft uses a required resource pack, and its description links the download. Install it alongside the data pack before you start your first run, and add the data pack to the world as usual through the datapacks folder or the Data Packs button.
Does Roguecraft work in multiplayer?
The data pack is required on the server, while installing it on the player's own side is optional. Put it in the server world's datapacks folder. A run ends only once every player has died, at which point everyone returns to the hub.
Which Minecraft versions does Roguecraft support?
Roguecraft covers Java Edition 1.20.2 to 1.21.11, and the newest release, 1.3.9.1, arrived on 2025-12-21. It is a Java data pack, so Bedrock players cannot use it.
Is Roguecraft a standalone title or a data pack?
Roguecraft is a data pack by MonoCode for Java Edition, listed on Modrinth. It is installed in a world's datapacks folder, so it adds runs, skillpoints, classes and an overhauled Ender Dragon fight to a Java world rather than running as a separate program.
