What Aged Light works with.
| Platform | Java Edition |
|---|---|
| Loaders | Fabric |
| Minecraft versions | 1.20.1, 1.21.1 |
| Environment | Client, Server |
Aged Light is a lightweight survival modpack for Fabric on Minecraft Java, made by xR4YM0ND. It strips the visual extras from the full Aged pack and keeps every core gameplay mechanic, so lower-end machines can run the same adventure. Both the client and the server need it installed.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 1.21.1.
What Aged Light removes
The pack ships with close to zero aesthetic and visual mods. Heavy shaders, complex particle effects and demanding animations are gone, which means lower RAM use and faster load times. The gameplay mods are identical to the full pack, so Aged Light players can join servers running Aged, and the reverse. That compatibility holds since Aged v3.1.0, and the Aged Light changelog states which Aged release each update matches.
Survival systems
- Hydration. Boil water to get purified water, because stagnant sources lead to illness and dehydration.
- Nutrition and temperature. A balanced diet gives buffs, spoiled dishes do not, and each area asks you to stay comfortable.
- Seasons. Prepare for winter and check your crops.
- Skills and jobs. Gather XP to raise your attributes, and assign up to three jobs to earn it faster.
- Combat. Mobs get stronger the further you travel and drop more loot, with more than six unique bosses to defeat.
- Crafting and exploration. Backpacks, sieves, gem-smithed tools, archeology finds and furniture from Let's Do and Another Furniture.
Installation
Import the pack into the Modrinth App, or into Prism Launcher or another launcher that reads .mrpack files. The launcher downloads the listed mods and Fabric for you. The steps are in how to install a modpack. An in-game guide book is available through the command /get-lavender-book aged:aged_guide_book.
Questions about Aged Light.
4 questions
What is the difference between Aged Light and Aged?
Aged Light is the lightweight edition of Aged. It removes nearly all aesthetic and visual mods, including heavy shaders and demanding animations, while keeping every gameplay mechanic. The result is lower RAM use and faster load times, aimed at players on weaker hardware or those who prefer a vanilla-plus look.
Is Aged Light compatible with the full Aged modpack?
Yes. Since Aged v3.1.0 the two packs are compatible with each other, because all gameplay mods are identical and only visuals are trimmed. You can join a server running either pack. The Aged Light changelog lists which Aged release each update matches.
Does Aged Light work on multiplayer?
It is designed for singleplayer, but server files can be run through ATLauncher, mrpack-install or docker, and both client and server need the pack. To play with one friend, e4mc can create a free server. The Lavender guide book probably will not work on servers.
How do I get the guide book in Aged Light?
A guide book appears on first start in singleplayer. If you need it again, run the command /get-lavender-book aged:aged_guide_book. It serves as the pack's documentation, since no separate wiki exists. On servers it probably will not work.
