Rebirth of the Night (RotN) is an adventure modpack for Java on Forge, made for players who want a harsher, more consequential world. It is a heavily customized overhaul with its own progression, lore and art.

What changes in play
RotN draws on Terraria, 7 Days to Die, Vintage Story and Valheim. Its core idea is that actions have consequences. Monsters mine and build to reach you, combat is more fluid, seasons change and nights run longer. The early hours make you scavenge for survival in new ways, and every world-changing event you cause brings repercussions and rewards.
The pack began as a response to Whitelight's video essay series critiquing the base sandbox, and it has grown its own identity since. Mods act as building blocks. Scripting, custom mods and forks, new textures and models, and the removal of duplicate items push everything toward one unified experience, not a tech or magic label.
Installing Rebirth of the Night

- 2.Skip separate installs of OptiFine and the soundtrack. Since 3.0.0 both are bundled.

How do I install Rebirth of the Night?
Download the pack from its CurseForge page, where files for players and for dedicated hosting are both available. Releases from 3.0.0 onward already include OptiFine and the soundtrack, so nothing else needs adding. Older 2.77.5 files needed both installed separately, so check which release you are downloading.
Which Java release does Rebirth of the Night support?
It targets 1.12.2 on Forge only. The newest file is 3.3.4, published on 2026-02-02. There is no Fabric or NeoForge edition of the pack, so anyone on a newer release needs a different modpack.
Does Rebirth of the Night work in multiplayer?
