AutoMessage is an announcement engine from DMK, and the page you want if you searched for an automessage plugin that does more than rotate chat lines. It runs as a Fabric mod and also ships plugin builds for Paper, Spigot, Folia, Purpur, Sponge, Velocity and BungeeCord. A Forge build exists, but it stopped years ago.
The pitch is deliberate communication. Every message picks its own audience, its own timing and its own language, so players stop tuning out announcements that reach everyone at once.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.17 to 1.20.1, builds stopped after September 2023. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it does
- Each channel keeps its own schedule, with four rotation strategies: shuffle, sequential, random or weighted.
- Messages can leave the rotation and fire on an event instead, either a join, a first join or a player-count threshold. The count trigger fires once on the way up and re-arms only after the population drops back below it.
- Audience rules filter by permission, group, world, online count or playtime, and they nest with ANY_OF, NONE_OF and NOT. The same rules apply to event-driven messages.
- One announcement can combine chat, action bar, title, subtitle, boss bar and sound.
- Text is delivered in each player's own language with a per-message fallback. Three languages ship by default.
- Chat content can be mirrored to a Discord webhook, with player-only tokens stripped and automatic mentions disabled.
Installing and configuring
- 1.Install the Fabric loader first if you do not have it. The guide to installing Fabric on Minecraft Java covers it.
- 2.Download the Fabric file from Modrinth and put it in the mods folder. The general steps are in how to install Minecraft mods on Java Edition.
- 3.Define who hears what and when in scheduledMessages.yml, and write the text itself in lang/en.yml.
- 4.Run /automessage reload to apply changes without a restart. A translation file added while the host was running is picked up too.
Use /automessage view to render a localized message for yourself alone, ignoring its audience rules. It is the quickest way to check formatting before players see it.
The footprint is small. There is no database, an empty host skips work, and players reading the same text in the same language share a single render. The trade-off is setup: schedules and message text are written in YAML files, so you configure announcements by editing those files.
Questions about AutoMessage.
4 questions
Is AutoMessage a mod or a plugin?
Both. It ships a Fabric mod and plugin builds for Paper, Spigot, Folia, Purpur, Sponge, Velocity and BungeeCord from one shared core. Pick the file that matches what your host runs, and check the loaders list on this page for the supported Minecraft range.
Does AutoMessage need a database?
No. The creator describes it as running without a database. Schedules, messages and languages live in YAML files, and /automessage reload applies edits in place, so you can adjust announcements while the host stays up.
Can I preview an announcement before players see it?
Yes. The /automessage view command renders the real localized message to you alone and ignores its audience rules. That lets you check chat, title, boss bar and sound formatting without broadcasting it to anyone else.
Does AutoMessage still work on Forge?
Only through an old Forge build, which stopped after September 2023 and covers older Minecraft releases. Current development goes to Fabric and the plugin platforms, so on a newer Forge setup you will not find a matching file.
