Call Your Horse is a Java mod and datapack that lets you whistle a tamed horse to your side with a goat horn. It runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and a plain datapack ships alongside the loader files. It is required on the server and optional on the client.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.3. The newest build requires 5555ff-lib; some builds for 1.21.6 to 26.1 need no dependencies; some builds for 1.21 to 1.21.11 need no dependencies.
How it works
Binding takes a few seconds, and the horse can be anywhere afterwards, including unloaded chunks.
- 1.Tame a horse and give it a name. The name cannot contain special characters like # ' _ or spaces.
- 2.Hold any goat horn, then sneak and look at the horse for 4 seconds.
- 3.You receive a horn that looks enchanted and carries the horse's name.
- 4.Use the horn and the horse teleports to you.
Only the owner can bind and use the horn unless the config says otherwise. To reset a horn, sneak and look straight up. By default it works for horses, donkeys, llamas, mules, skeleton horses, zombie horses, trader llamas and camels.
Installing the mod or the datapack
Loader users drop the mod file into the mods folder and launch with the matching loader profile. The newest release also needs 5555ff-lib in that folder, while some older releases need no library at all. Our guide to installing mods on Java covers the basics. A plain datapack build is also published, and its newest release likewise requires 5555ff-lib.
Configuration
The config command is /trigger callyourhorse.config.
- Choose which animals can be called without being their owner.
- Allow teleporting only when no player is riding the horse (on by default).
- Mount the horse automatically after it teleports (off by default).
On 1.21.5 and below, edit callable.json and callable_without_owner.json in data/callyourhorse/tags/entity_type, then run /reload.
The trade-off is plain: the server must have it, and the newest release depends on an extra library.

Questions about Call Your Horse.
4 questions
Does Call Your Horse work on multiplayer servers?
Yes. The server must have it installed, while the client side is optional. Owners get the horn by default, and the config can change who may call which animals.
Can other players call my horse?
Not by default. Only the owner of the horse can get the goat horn and use it to call the animal. The config lets you pick which entity types can be called without an owner, so you can loosen that for specific animals if you want.
Does the horn work if the horse is in an unloaded chunk?
Yes. The horse can be anywhere and the horn still teleports it to you, even from unloaded chunks. By default teleporting only works when no player is riding the horse, and you can turn that check off in the config.
How do I unbind a Call Your Horse horn?
To unbind or reset a horn, sneak and look directly up. A horn is bound by sneaking and looking at a named, tamed horse for 4 seconds, and only the horse's owner can get and use it unless the config changes that.
