Botanical Pots

Botanical Pots grows flowers, fungi and trees in pots that drop resources on their own into a container below. It installs as a mod or as a data pack with a resource pack.

Botanical Pots is a Minecraft Java mod and data pack by Manchick that automates plant farming. It ships for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and it is required on the server while the client side is optional. Flowers, fungi and trees grow inside the pot and drop their resources without a farm built around them.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.

How the pots work

Use Bone Meal on a regular pot to get a Botanical Pot, then plant inside it. Once the plant is grown it drops its resources, and most plants have a small chance of a treat, from Apples to Honeycombs. A jukebox playing near a pot speeds growth.

Automation is the point. A container placed below a pot receives its drops, and an empty pot pulls an item from a nearby Hopper. A pot takes only one upgrade at a time, and the Advancements tab hints at how to earn each one. One upgrade automates the cycle further. Add-ons are supported since v3.0.0 through third-party data packs, and Manchick documents the format as Add-Ons 101 on GitHub.

Plant research and classes

You receive a Magnifying Glass when the data pack loads. It shows each plant's class, which sets growth rate, yield, treats and soil needs.

  • Ingens: 0.5x growth, 1-4x resources, can drop treats.
  • Defixus: 0.75x growth, 1-2x resources, can drop treats.
  • Vulgaris: 1.0x growth, 1x resources, can drop treats.
  • Arrogans: 1.5x growth, 1-2x resources, needs richer soil, can drop treats.
  • Mollis: 2.0x growth, 1-2x resources, needs richer soil, no treats.

Two ways to install

  1. 1.As a mod, put the file for your loader in the mods folder, as covered in how to install Java mods. The resource pack is bundled inside the file.
  2. 2.As a plain data pack, install the data pack together with the mandatory resource pack, which sits at the bottom of the page of the release you pick.

Questions about Botanical Pots.

4 questions

Is Botanical Pots a mod or a data pack?

It is both. Manchick publishes loader builds for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, plus a plain data pack. The mod bundles the required resource pack inside its file, while the data pack route asks you to add the resource pack separately from the bottom of the release page.

How do I get a Botanical Pot?

Use Bone Meal on a regular pot. Plant something inside and it grows on its own, then drops its resources. You also get a Magnifying Glass when the data pack is installed, which shows each plant's class and its growth and yield details.

Does Botanical Pots work on multiplayer servers?

Yes. The server needs it, and the client side is optional. The newest build lists no required dependencies, so the server only needs the file for its loader, or the data pack together with the resource pack.

Can Botanical Pots send drops into chests?

Yes. A container placed below a pot receives its drops. An empty pot also takes an item from a nearby Hopper, and one upgrade automates the process even further.
