What DisablePortal works with.
| Platform | Java Edition |
|---|---|
| Minecraft versions | 1.20.1 |
| Environment | Server |
DisablePortal stops players from activating portals on a server. The disableportal plugin line covers Paper, Bukkit and Folia, while the original Forge mod targets a single release. It runs on the server only, and players need nothing installed.
Loaders and versions
- Forge: Minecraft 1.20.1, builds stopped after April 2025. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it blocks
Portals cannot be activated, so they never come to life.
The dimensions are not sealed off. The creator, 24na7, notes that you can still enter them with a command.
Installing it
- 1.Pick the file that matches your server software, either the Forge mod or the Paper, Bukkit or Folia plugin.
- 2.For the Forge mod, place the file in the server's mods folder. The install guide covers the steps.
- 3.Portals can no longer be activated.
The newest build for every loader lists no dependencies, so there is no library to add first.
Trade-offs
The feature set is deliberately narrow. There is one behaviour, blocked activation, with a command as the way around it. Backports to 1.20 and 1.19 are planned, but only after the plugin's final update, and nothing is promised below that.
The repository's licence reserves all rights, so use the project's own links for files and treat them as for your own server.
Questions about DisablePortal.
4 questions
Does DisablePortal stop players from entering the Nether at all?
It stops players from activating portals, which blocks access to the Nether and End that way.
Does DisablePortal work on Paper servers?
Yes. Alongside the Forge mod, the project ships plugin builds for Paper, Bukkit and Folia. The creator says the plugin system behaves the same as the Forge mod, and the plugin is the line they plan to support long term.
Do players need to install DisablePortal?
No. It is required on the server and unsupported on the client, so players join with their normal setup. Only the server owner needs to add the file.
Will DisablePortal get older Minecraft versions?
The creator plans backports to 1.20 and 1.19, but only after the plugin's final update. Versions below those are uncertain, and no date is given.
