Building Gadgets 2 is a collection of gadgets that makes raising large structures less of a chore. It runs on NeoForge and Forge, and its files are tagged for both client and server, so multiplayer hosts and players install the same mod. Direwolf20 and ErrorMikey are the credited authors.
Loaders and versions
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.1.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.12.2 to 1.20.1. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it is
The pitch is plain: not everyone is a great builder, and big projects take effort. The gadgets exist to lower that effort. Building Gadgets 2 is a recreation of Direwolf20's very first mod, Building Gadgets, and the author adds that this time it has less DireCode. Or more, depending on how you look at it.
The newest line targets Minecraft 1.20 and newer. Older Minecraft releases, 1.19 and below, belong to the legacy mod of the same name, which has its own description on the CurseForge listing. If you search for the original mod, check which line you are on before you install.
Installing it
- 1.Install the loader that matches your pack, NeoForge or Forge, for the same Minecraft release as the mod file. The guide on installing Forge and NeoForge covers it.
- 2.Place the mod file in the mods folder of your game directory (.minecraft/mods by default). The newest files need no other mod.
- 3.Launch with the loader's profile. On a multiplayer host, put the same file in the host's mods folder as well.
New to mod folders? The walkthrough on installing Java mods goes step by step. Bedrock cannot load this mod.
Learning the gadgets and trade-offs
Usage instructions live on the project wiki. The author's mod spotlights are also linked, though the creator calls them somewhat outdated, so treat the wiki as the reference and the videos as an overview.
Some older Forge files list optional integrations, among them Applied Energistics 2, Refined Storage and Mekanism. Those appear on the 1.12.2 to 1.16.2 era files only. The newest NeoForge and Forge files list none. Charging Gadgets is an optional companion on some files.
